Apparently, classic player are receiving this survey where Blizzard asks what they want to do after the end of MoP classic and one of the options seems to be to transfer their classic characters to retail.
Do not do this, really. You’re going to piss off soooo many players.
From the beginning of classic you always stated that no classic stuff was going to be transferred to retail. A lot of people tried classic out but never grinded anything because it felt not worth.
We would have grinded for old stuff like corrupted ashbringer, the zul aman bear, zulian tiger, old naxxramas glory mounts etc.
Now you’re going to change your mind? Nice, what a huge F you to millions of retail players.
Eh. They could always be not stupid and add those removed items back to the games in sensible ways.
And nothing really prevents them from starting a new round of progressive servers that will go through the pre Legion expansions on a loop. Ending with players being dumped in Retail at the end.
And why stop at Legion? Because that’s when they got the level syncing thoroughly implemented.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere. Had they not broken their scaling repeatedly by raising the level cap, we could have been in a situation where they would need less adjustments to maintain the quality and difficulty of past instanced content.
This, most likely. Other than that, transferring a character from classic to retail isn’t really a problem, as long as achievements/fos/items/titles/mounts etc. currently unobtainable in retail are wiped upon transfer.
Edit:
I am though a supporter of making old stuff obtainable in retail, once it hits legacy status.
I would like it because i plan to get cm sets so it will make me happy but i didn’t see any Blue post on na forums about confirming it so i don’t trust only if i see blizzard responce i will.
They said that there will be no classic server too. And here we are with how many WoW versions?..
It wouldn’t surprise if Blizz would do this. Classic is a moneymaker. If they do it at the end of MoP they can start over at classic (60) again and people will grind it for all the old things. Ez money for blizz.
Yes, there will be people crying but most of them wouldn’t leave WoW because of it, so it doesn’t matter.
I thought of you when this discusssion popped up on my discord after leaks of the survey.
I think it’s outrageous and an insult to Retail players, many of whom would have kept up to date with all the Classics and gathered all the removed items to import into Retail at the end.
So to say I’m a little cross with Blizzard at even suggesting this is an understatement.
If you are going to do underhanded things like this Blizzard then make everything available to players in Retail.
As long as those will be locked-in Classic realms within Retail (so realms solely for chars coming from Classic), fine by me. Otherwise…shoo.
But it is a problem which was doomed to pop up; how far along the line are they willing to go? Clearly they may not have thought about this too well in advance.
And if you knew they would be removed back than , you would have grinded them back in vanilla .
And if you knew transmog would be implemented you would have saved your old sets .
And if you knew … And if you knew .
But you didn’t did you , just like no one else .
Back than it was fine , but now not ?
I see zero problem with this .
People did the same effort it took back in vanilla . They did not get them from one shotting bosses in retail , so why cry now ?
You still have a chance . Go play anniversary . Ashbringer is not even out yet and you have at least a year an half after that , before wotlk .
BTW , your collections and achievements don’t make you special. They mater only to you . Live with it .
Also FOMO is garbage .
Back then they didn’t annonce any of this right out of the bat, just to change their decision later. It’s not the same with this situation: they clearly said they don’t intend to merge this two game modes:
My good sir, You are very far from the truth! Today’s technology, simcrafting etc. is vastly superior than it used to be. Look at current DPS numbers on WC logs and compare them with old videos to see it for yourself.
The biggest reason I didnt bother too much with vanilla classic/tbc/wotlk is all because they said the rewards would not be linked to retail.
If they go back on that its like giving the middle finger and tell me to leave if I dont like it. Which I prob would end up doing.
Classic tmog/rewards should never be linked to retail.
Theres no point at all since its completely pointless if thats the case. Like, ppl can lvl up a new char within a day so whats the point of transfering a character from classic to retail if they dont keep anything at all from it.
Which would piss off retail players if they did get to keep anything.
Its a loose - loose situation from blizzards side. So if that survey is right Im questioning whoever actually thought about it. Im not going to say what I rly feel lol.
