Classic release date

So guys i’ve been thinking about it ever since they announced wow classic. Releasing the game late Summer 2019, would be a bad idea in my opinion. The majority of the classic game players, will be old-school people returning back, to experience what used to be their best gaming experience ever. However, most of us, including myself, are now studying or even working. What I’m trying to say is that we can’t afford to play the game for hours like we used to. Therefore it would’ve been a good idea to release wow classic in the beginning/mid summer 2019, where people will actually be free to dedicate and invest in the game as much as they want to. Cause once the new year begins, most of them will be quitting the game …

I sleep through classic quickly

There will also be a lot of tourists that are interested in trying out Classic. Whether they stay or not, and I’m guessing most of them will leave, that’s still quite a large audience who will be ready to play on the day of release. Lots of people that have holidays and what not or don’t have any commitments whatsoever.

I’m not sure about you but summer doesn’t mean I suddenly lose all responsibilities. Work doesn’t just stop yannow.

yeah that’s true, that was for college students and students in general

I don’t think the ‘Classic’ market is what you think it is. It is going to be Wrathbabies who ‘heard how cool it was’. Look at the actual Classic forums, they are literally proving Blizzard right. “You think you do, but you don’t”

Remember the outrage at the time?

Now, go read the Classic forums, “Oh, I want Classic, but obviously with updated graphics” “Oh, I want Classic, but still with Pandaren” “Oh, do we get to raid Icecrown Citadel in Classic, that would be awesome” "Hey I want Classic, but I’d like all the bugs and class imbalances removed, “Could I get Classic, and still play my Dwarf Shaman?”

Blizzard were right.

They thought they wanted it, but it seems they really didn’t…

literally been saying this to my pals since day one.

it’s a fad that will blow over in 6-8 weeks. all this dev time spent on a project no one -really- wants.

no wonder bfa was a crock of s**t

I didn’t play classic so I look forward to try a version of it, but I probably won’t reach lvl 60 due to lack of time. But I sure hope Blizzard keep it as it was and don’t make exceptions to things to please those wanting some classic-wrath-cata-mop hybrid.
As for the release time, personally winter is the time of year I play the most because I try to be outdoors the four months of year we have sun and decent warmth, so it’s quite varying when people have time to play. I thought it would be released during summer though.

They think they want Classic, but they don’t. Personally, I can’t wait for the flame wars as clashing rose goggled revisionists fight over it not being their brand of vanilla.

I’m genuinely looking forward to it, mostly to see if I’m remembering certain aspects correctly. Granted I never played true vanilla, joined the middle-end of TBC, but many elements remained the same.

I’m under no illusions that I’ll play it longer than… maybe a month, however. Unless it really hooks me.

I, like Mithcha joined the game in TBC, except it was early TBC and many elements were the same.

I however do not really care about it, but I may have a look once its out.

Probably released around the time 8.2 (or the raid part of it) releases. Would maximise business profits for Bli$$ard.

I first joined right at the end of Classic, I think i was level 20 when TBC released. I cannot wait to actually play end game in vanilla

I joined WoW about half way through vanilla, and while I have no illusions about how frustrating the gameplay could often be, I do remember that certainly the journey from 1-60 while a slog at times did feel a lot more rewarding.

Also got to see a lot of the world as you had to jump between zones.

I remember similar, though via TBC. It was the little things I recall mattering, often frustrating at the time but they built up to a feeling of “improvement” that’s been lost.

Having to level your weapon skill, hunters needing arrows, some mobs in hellfire needing different approaches etc. Little things that build up to an overall more involved experience.

It won’t last of course, will rapidly become sick of that stuff but it’ll be nice to see again.

Fo’sho, I and many others will be longing for some of the quality of life improvements that came later before long. But that’s just the nature of the game. Not that I’m saying they should add those improvements, the game should be as close to what it was as possible.

That said I would dig the new graphics options, new models and updated environments would be good.

People only “like” classic/other private servers because they are free.

When they suddenly have to pay a sub fee to a 15 year old game they will hate it and stick to their free version because it’s just not worth the price. It was a terrible game back then but was fortunate in that it was the only half-way decent MMO at the time. It’s tragic by today’s standards.

The major irony is for a lot of the exceptionally entitled classic ‘purists’ is that the times are very different now regardless of how accurate of a depiction the game is.

It will not be the same experience. It’s impossible.

As a form of experimental live MMORPG museum, it’s certainly an interesting prospect.

You can’t go back in time and that’s what people want. That first feeling of discovering new things.

Been playing WoW since 2004, I was 12 back then. I’m 27 now. I remember feeling frustrated during most of the game but I also remember that I felt like a legend when I got into level 60.

Those feelings are not coming back. Unfortunately as someone already mentioned here… Blizz was right. People don’t want it. Check the forums and again as someone said people are just asking for Vanilla with ‘extras’… Future exp content, better graphics, etc.

I’ll try it out for sure, might even get hooked. But I can guarantee that 80% of the people who never played it and will try it out will quit even before getting to a certain level and you’re out of quests or need to grind to get further quests… Game was a nightmare but it surely was awesome when you achieved something.

I didn’t play back then, but I will definitely play it, and I want vanilla as it was, not Vanilla + extras.

But I’m also mentally prepared for how Vanilla is/was, so I will have no problems, except maybe accepting a 1 Hr CD on Hearthstone. :sob:
