Classic Versions of WoW won't launch!

For two weeks in a row, my both classic versions of the game wont launch, they start and stay as background process, funny thing is that happened Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday for 2 weeks in a row, while they worked normally other days I tried, and Retail Version Launches and works perfect, tried everything I can, even got fresh windows installation, fresh cata and classic installs multiple times etc…

Same here, it launches about 50% of the time.

I did not try reinstalling yet but will at some point.

First of all, thank you, Alliria, for starting this up.
I’m playing Cata Classic, but I installed the Classic Era game a few days ago. That was when I first noticed (or when the issue started) this problem.

When I click to play Cata Classic, nothing happens when I hit the “Play” button. The WowClassic.exe process just sits there, consuming around 142k of memory. The tricky part is that the game will eventually launch by itself after a few minutes. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes, sometimes not at all, but occasionally it starts right away. Whenever WowClassic.exe goes beyond 142k of memory usage, the game runs. However, more often than not, it stays stuck in the background as a process.

Additionally, I’ve noticed that downloading and updating through the Battle.net launcher is extremely slow. I’ve been downloading a 38 MB Hearthstone patch for the past 30 minutes. I’ve never had an issue like this before, and I haven’t changed anything with my network, router, or firewall settings. The speedtest showed good results, so it seems the issue is with Battle.net.

Here’s a list of things I’ve tried to fix the issue, but it persists:

  • Uninstalled (with a full cleanup of all Battle.net and WoW files) and did a fresh install
  • Used the “Scan and Repair” option
  • Set -d3d11 in the Additional Command Line Arguments in Options > Game Settings
  • Disabled the Battle.net Update Agent before launching the game
  • Set Firewall settings to default and whitelisted both Battle.net and WoW
  • Moved the World of Warcraft folder to my C: drive
  • Flushed the DNS cache and reset the router

Just for the record, my hardware and internet connection can handle the game since I’ve been running the game without any issues before all of this.

Thanks a lot, hope we find a solution for this.
