Classic vs modern shadowbolt

So I played both classic and modern warlock. Am I the only one finding the old Shadow bolt animation being much cooler and more satisfying to use?

I agree, but honestly I think a big part is also the sound effect. In general I found the old sound effects of most skills to pack more punch than the newer ones.

If they just added a glyph of an old shadowbolt that would have been cool… but cool and warlocks are not compatible in the eyes of Blizzard.

Yeah… I don’t think anyone likes the new Shadowbolt, haha! It does suck, but to be fair, how often do you really care about these effects whilst you’re blasting? There’s more important things to focus on.

Yet they could easily add old SB effect as a glyph, it is 3 min work.

It’s not important, it’s just aesthetics. As if anyone really cares when they’re blasting

We hear a lot from Blizz about player agency/customisation and other things that is true not that important than actual gameplay, yet for some reason customisation like this is less important that body types, hair styles and etc

Imagine inviting you to a group for PVP or PVE and you die because you were far too fixated on your head up your own backside.

Team player knowing all the cool things.

Shadowbolt used to be one of the main dps spells. It was made filler by Blizz. And cosemtic/sound does matter, maybe not in raid, but in other activities I pay attention. For me old chaos bolt (woltk one) felt sooo good and impactful to fire, the new one is just a big long cylinder thrown at enemy.

People die in pvp and PvE looking at the bars and panels of DBM, DETAILS, Recount, Scada and other add ons when they try to min-max their efficiency.

Asking for better visual for your spell is a thing that anyone could do. And since it is a visual it has nothing to do with balance and the balance team that is rather disappointing have nothing to do with teams that work on stuff like visuals, toys, craft and mounts.

I understand that warlocks are lore wise, not the nicest people, but your saltiness is just way too high even for this forum. Go play the Hello kitty adventures you have mentioned and chill the fel out.

If you don’t care about aestethics, you are playing the wrong game, and you are the minority here.
This is an MMORPG not some weird asian action game where all you see on your screen is millions of numbers of damage.
Go play CS Go, League of legends or Call of duty if you are only interested in the gameplay aspect.

And that is the wrong bunch of games, because those games wanna make you care about all your cosmetics.
CS GO - whole market about skins and other stuff.
CoD - would ravish your wallet for all those skins for characters and weapons or for lootboxes or battlepasses.

I’ve thought about this in the past, imo the old animation is better only due to the way the projectile travels ( old is faster and doesnt curve) as well as the missile’s head being a skull giving the impression that the bulk of it is in at the tip , whereas with the current animation the tip is pointy making it feel flimsy and not dangerous enough.

Now in regards to glows, I miss the old glow cause it was unique , but the new one isn’t necessarily bad either, the issue mainly lies in the shape and speed of the projectile ,as stated above.

Edit: if blizz would change the tip to a modern version of the skull while keeping the current glow animation and making the projectile less curvy it would be pretty amazing i’d say.
