Classic wow reddit with 500k members now promotes cheats and private servers

Good job Blizzard, not even the reddit fanboys are on your side anymore.

And that’s not really good. Blizzard will just ignore more and more community, will communicate less, there will be less feedback moving back and forth and we will have BfA/SL repeat while Actiblizz execs that make the decisions like the token will have even more free reign to monetize the games or cancel variants that don’t print enough money.

And reddit can abide to US law thus that reddit could be taken down.

They arent PROMOTING it, they removes the rule thats they ban people from discussing it, discussion is not illegal

Have you heard of free press? There is NOTHING illegal about covering private servers on an external site. Wtf

Rule 4 on reddit was reinstated 15 hours ago so im not sure why you made the effort to create this thread

USA isn’t that “free”. Blizzard can request that the given reddit removes copyrighted graphics or name for example. Depending on reddit rules they may also piggyback from promoting cheats/“pirated” games like how you can’t safely stream pservers on Twitch, YT and alike.

Like Blizzard can’t do anything about pservers hosted way outside of US but can hit on sites that abide to USA law. They hit multiple times on Twitch, Youtube, they went after Turtle social media and alike.

Rule 4 is already back up.

You are so late with this thread.

Read up,

Linking to a source or talking about a private server for example isnt infringing on any copyrights and arent breaking any US law. Sure they can copyright strike about anything…but not a discussion about a private server for example. Not even in the US.

You can talk about them on a normal site. You can even play them. The thing is many sites have custom rules and most popular sites fall into that category plus lots of law greyzone.

Like when you stream a game or make content for a game you don’t really have a license or agreement for this with the game publisher. It would be dumb but it’s doable for a company (Nintendo…) to take such content down. With a private server it’s easier as it’s not a Blizzard service. If they notice they can copyright strike it.

This is factually incorrect, they never promoted cheats or private servers and all they did was remove the automod that blocks posts discussing private servers… But the other point is that the rule was already reinstated last night, before you made this post 8 hours ago.

Some Reddit mods had a bit of a drama moment over the WoW token and then order was quickly restored. Your post is pointless, especially given that you can talk about private servers on WoW official forums pretty much freely without repercussions, while Reddit would block any such discussion with automod.

Yeah, I noticed the change today. Well, r/classicwow is crazy atm… There is litterally not a single post that are positive. Even gold sellers tell their stories on how the gold demand has gone up since the token was added to the servers.

Actually, there are people (or automated systems, not sure) here who will report your post if you talk about private servers in certain ways. It is against the forum code of conduct to mention their names, for example, and I had one of my posts removed for mentioning a certain private server name, even though my opinion of it in that post was rather negative.

Perfect, let the real fan of World of Warcraft speak free, instead of this Classic fast food nostalgia you think you do but you don’t check.

I’ve been in a lot of discussions over the years up to and after the release of classic, talking about private servers and naming them in the discussion, for various reasons related to the topic. I have never had my posts removed or been suspended for any of those.

Meanwhile I get 1 day suspensions from the forum with posts removed for mild profanity on a semi-regular basis.

In order to ignore this “more”, they would have to start doing it at some point. They arent doing any if it as is, we are losing out on nothing.

They noticed and interacted with the hardcore community. If they back off now they will just make HC as they see fit which may not align with the HC community and so on.

And it has great effect on retail. Dragonflight had way better alpha/beta than SL and BfA in terms of actual feedback and applying that feedback. They won’t do our bidding or every our wish but at least something is flowing back and forth.

Ive been around Classic since the beginning, and right before launch the communication could be described as decent. From that point it has been nothing else but declining, and is now only to be considered as retrospect information.

Blizzard/Activision/Microsoft or whatever you want to call them, has been out of tune with their customers the last 10 years and more. The stunt with the Tokens is a clear sign of that and the implemention even more so. Whatever communication you were refering to on Reddit happened only when it was in line with what they already wanted and wouldn’t budge on.
