Clearing out Dungeons and Raids for RP use

Hey Argent Dawn! I recently thought of doing this and I am wondering if you or your guild has ever done this to some effect? The Twelfth Penal Company for example did some prisoner interaction in the Stockades last night, which was quite fun and immersive! I imagine nightborne would have a blast in Nighthold. Or Death Knights can have fun in northrend instances.

A year or so back I used to run 4 man events that sometimes took place within dungeons all around the world. It can be so incredibly fun to do small scale events inside say… Deadmines, Gnomeregan, Stratholme… etc.

Guild I was in back then occasionally had events in raids as well. Such as Karazhan when we needed a festive party place.

I actually did this the other day on my Druid with her Shan’do in the Emerald Nightmare. It makes for interesting interactions with the areas around you that you can’t normally find elsewhere.

We do it all the time, for those adventures that are not airborne, Tends to be Raids, rather than Dungeons, as you can never absolutely plan for numbers, and it would be crappy to say a Guildie couldn’t come along due to them taking you over the Dungeon Cap. We occasionally do it with MT or SWP as well to represent ‘The Aerie’, but yeah, Instances are awesome locations to use, and you can get a lot of mileage out of them. Consider Naxxramas, and how different its Wings are, consider Black Temple and how different its areas are, you can use and re-use areas a lot if you tailor the events right.

Strongly recommended raids are Black Temple, Naxxramas, Ulduar, and of course, the grand daddy/mommy of Karazhan. They all give you a lot of themes to play around with. I don’t tend to favour dungeons due to Guild numbers, but some of them are amazing if for smaller missions/encounters.

But yeah, using Dungeons and Raids is awesome games!

Oh yes we’ve done that plenty of times! Long looong ago Gaeb was once held for interrogation and I played him in the Stockades for roughly two weeks. Also many smaller adventures inside various dungeons such as Stratholme. I remember we also did a 3-pronged Blackrock thing once (the huge one, I always mess up the names), with three different 5-man groups who IC-wise were in the same place but in different directions, and then coordinating with an out of dungeon DM using the old Atlas Maps addons to keep track of where everyone was.

Before the coming of garrisons we also used parts of Karazhan or the Scarlet Monastery even, to represent the castle we’re stationed at, in case ingame locations didn’t suffice.

Usually use them for finales or other important plot areas. There’s a lot of good areas you can use to get creative and be uninterrupted doing it. A lot of the instances (especially Classic ones) are really good for capturing the world. Personal favourite is Blackfathom Depths, it’s a good one for a proper dungeon crawl (I mean I somehow did an eight hour event there for a guild group before).

So yeah, do it, have fun, world is your oyster and all that.

I did this back in WoD when i rped a shaman. We rped small events where we played the heroes that cleared out those dungeons. Off course since you can’t actually claim it we did it as a spiritual time travel thing where we experienced the memories of those heroes.

Always a good use of the environments we’ve been given, they can be re-purposed for a lot of things. I’ve used Shadowmoon Burial Grounds to represent an equally ancient tomb of sorts but on Azeroth. I imagine now with the Nightborne things like the Court of Stars and the Nighthold will be very popular to use once clearing them becomes trivial.
