Cold hard truth - WoW is not toxic. In its communication

strong textTLDR: People chat what they feel based on what they see and experience. If a BG is won. Nobody is angry. If a BG is lost, people get upset. Actions speak louder than words.
WoW’s community is not toxic when it comes to communication.

There are 2 big factors in play here that make people mad.

nr 1: Most players are really bad. Thats an objective fact and not surprising at all when the game doesnt encourage you to get good before max end game niche high lvl dungeons and raids.

Nr 2: players that try hard and are super tired of losing or failing this and that because of player mentioned above in Nr 1. We play to win. We try mega hard. We play support. We hunt the EFC. And if we are all alone trying to play the game right… we get frustrated. Thats normal. We’re not toxic for it. No matter what defeatist minded players think to excuse their slacking and bubble of ignorance.

Culmination = Elitism and players that complain about being called out for being really bad at the game and finding it absolutely wrong and horrible to be called crap when you dont hit healers, dont interrupt, dont hunt enemy flag carrier, or bother opening your eyes to watch important things in raids or mythic +.

Toxicity is a word thrown around so often but its always thrown at people that say bad things.

WELL WHAT ABOUT…the actions of people that sabotage the fun of others? is that not toxic too? What about us who pay to play this game to have fun only to see clueless self righteous players that think they are god and they can do no wrong…but in truth they are god awful and haven’t got a clue how to play at all.

Is that not toxic?

People complaining about toxicity and reporting people who get mad in chat should really take a good long look at themselves before assessing what is toxic.
Because there is nothing more toxic in my book then seeing people at 120 in 380 + gear that have no remote idea what to do, how to play, and dont bother reading chat either. This isn’t a wow problem either. its EVERY single multiplayer game ever. Especially Smite. You play bad there ? You will get called out and even reported for being crap at the game.
Unlike in WoW where you get reported for trying to win… its unreal.

WoW is toxic…when it comes to how well or how horrible you play this game. And no matter how many bans or silences, it wont change.

People get mad. its human nature. Especially so when we see someone extraordinarily awful at the game yet they partake in content that require teamwork.

If you do this… and you dont want to be called out for being bad? Then dont play bad. Dont be bad.

Otherwise. You’re the problem. Not the ones of us who attack you.

We’re not toxic.
YOU…are.

Btw. I know some people are new to Wow and that I wont hate on. But when I see people that have played for years and are geared and still play bad… there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with calling them out.

All games are about winning. If you disagree with this mentality, whilst the game literally incentivises you to win in these specific circumstances, then you’re a problem and you’re pure poison to the game and the players that try to win.

I felt this needed to be said because all I read whenever I swing by is people that cry about nasty words or being called out for X things.

WoW has a far bigger problem and thats Nr 1 I mentioned above. Blizz should encourage players to get better EARLY on.
There are people that dont even know they have interrupts, revives or Bloodlust abilities in their spellbooks…yet run around high gear.

This is the true toxicity problem in WoW. Its NOT players reactions to it.

actualy not realy, I have been in wow ever since launch, not trying to sound like I know everything, but I have seen a lot of things.

1 some one says hi I am new wow, gets kicked, or someone evens says kick in chat= toxic.

  1. one wipe on a boss, someone screams how bad the rest are or how bad the tank is= toxic.

3, someone dies from standing in fire or hitting boss at wrong time, screams at healer or tank= toxic.

there is way more examples, but just becuse you happen to have a bad day, or just feel frustraited for what ever reason, acting like that against others do make that person toxic or elitist, and there is far worse things than what I counted there.

I want to see a stat at the end like overall score.
You get it by doing objectives AND damage / healing / CC? / etc, basically not being AFK. If this system is fair and balanced (blizz making something balanced lol) then maybe people can get personal rewards for it?

If a guy want to try hard and do everything to win - he gets higher score and gets better reward than the semi afk guy who watches something on his second monitor. Basically bigger effort should have bigger reward. Elitest have no reason to be toxic to semi afk and semi afk can’t be toxic to the people who carry them.

Just random thoughts.

Im glad I made this thread a few days ago. Got a perfect example to share.

Just finished a dungeon. Time walking Magisters Terrace
Not hard at all compared to the other ones.

Yet… people played horribly. We wiped on Kael thas 1 time. During the 2nd pull DPs died a total of 6 times… absolutely unreal.

On top of that people overpulled. Didn’t say a word. No apology as it kept happening.
I cleared the left side of the center area perfectly. had like 15-20 yards of FREE space to move.
They still overpulled. And not only overpulled 1 mob. But 2. 2nd one being 35 yards away…

And as I got angry, telling them to get a grip and stop wasting time, i’m being told by the healer to relax. Mistakes happen. I’m the problem. Just be quiet.

Again. A beautiful example of the reaction to GARBAGE play… being considered the issue. Not the absolute trash gameplay and zero interest in doing better throughout the whole run.

Whats the point in sharing this? Simple message to blizz. When I tell this player something in return for his toxic, unconstructive apologetic attitude, calling for me to get raped by 30 adds because players cba to git remotely gut?.. dont ban me.

Dont silence me. Dont come for me.

Because I’m not the problem. Those garbage freaking players were, minus 1 guy. Solid feral that helped me interrupt. The other 3 however. Most useless trash Ive ever seen. Turned a 30 minute run into almost 1 hour of wipes, arguments and excuses.

We need an option to report bad gameplay. Please throw that in the game, Blizz. Haha. if 40 or so reports of garbage gameplay, force them into doing the Trials in Pandaria. God I’d love that.

As long as players run around, sabotaging runs, acting horribly, and being defended by other players like them saying " It happens. Move on, man. Relax"… Wipe…after wipe… IN STUPID fashion. 100 % avoidable mobs… as long as this crap exists… you will never see a “non toxic attitude” in player chats because its outright unrealistic, Blizzard.

You got players that SUCK… horribly. And frustration has us react to this by calling them out.
Its not toxic to do so… its toxic, however, to reply “gtfo. its only a game… relax” when being asked to interrupt, stop overpulling, stop ninja pulling, stop wiping the group 5 times, stop sleeping, and stop ignoring REAL issues."

THAT…is the most pure form of toxicity in WoW because it excuses horrible gameplay, actual progress, completion of content and any remote form of trying to improve.
Not me telling the player he’s a momumental idiot for being so awful at playing a game he obviously has no interest in playing correctly.

Let me report bad gameplay. Force players into doing Pandaria Role Trials. It may no do jack but I’d be positively entertained knowing some of these players would fail at just part 1 of them.

I don’t do dungeons / raids any more since they are … well, toxic.
But when I did tank them I had one simple rule - you pull it, you tank it.
Once someone has died a few times, seen their repair bill and been told that rule over and over they should catch on even if the won’t admit it.

As for bad gameplay, got mixed feelings on that.
Yes it’s frustrating, but I didn’t buy their copy of WoW or pay their subscription so what right do I have to tell them how to play ? Works both ways of course, since I pay for my own.
That said, if you are stuck with people that won’t take advice on how to play a BG or get past a dungeon boss all you can really do is hope your next one is better.

But then what qualifies someone as being proficient enough to give that advice … or take it. As John Cleese said (and he’s quoting someone else)
“In order to know how good you are at something requires exactly the same skills as it does to be good at that thing in the first place, which means that if you are absolutely no good at something at all, then you lack exactly the skills you need to know that you are absolutely no good at it.”

There is also the option of just (inwardly) laughing at their sillyness and shrugging it off, for all you know theyre having a bad day and hey, its not like you’ll lose a hand or foot in that exchange so eh you’ll live

Beats stressing out over it

Well if you always go into something group related expecting people to play bad, your level of aggression, stress and dissapointment will go down severly. This will make you appreciate the good things such as your friends way more.

Wait a second… If you do stuff with people you enjoy playing with that also reaches your expectations, things may not be to bad. Try queue up for those random BG’s, timewalking or w/e with a few friends. But who knows it might be hard to get friends if all one can do are calling other people garbage.

Even the best players in WoW do misstakes or have at one point or another been inexperienced. The random queue system cause a big issue community wise. When many of us older players started to play WoW we taught eachother stuff in guilds, talked and comunicated. Simply put people grew more experienced togheter in a civil manner.

But when random guys “call out” people these days It’s just a random blurr of vile garbage. Does it help people get better, perhaps in some cases. Is it a healthy envoriment? Not really.

Not everyone gets motivated to become better because some random guy spews vile goop around himself, to be fair this person may cause more harm then good.

Cause in the end, the same random person which caused your run to feel like a waste of time, see the obnoxious “truthteller” as just another random idiot. All it really cause are more people opting out of reading chat at all, unless it fester and become even viler.

Personally i just leave if the people in the group/raid won’t listen to obvious things since whatever I whould say at this point won’t really change anything and whould just amount uneccesary frustration. But once you start to become a vile obnoxious douche you instantly just become a part of the problem.

Seems like you got some angry issues going on here…

OMG not an overpull of 2 mobs?! Yeah it’s sh!t that it happens, but 1 overpull of 2 mobs and you’ve gone full angry issue 10 year old on them. Who is causing more problems?

And a gameplay report would be the single worst thing blizzard could do. Because if you do anything someone doesn’t slightly like, boom reported… Beat someone on a loot roll? Boom reported. Group wipes because of overpull? Healers get reported for not healing enough, tanks get reported for overpull, dps get reported for not cc’ing enough or putting out enough dps. Doesn’t matter what for because they could argue that your gameplay was bad whatever.

Seems you just need to relax a bit and remember this is a game, sh!t does happens. If they are that bad, you’ll remember to never play with them again, job done.

It’s only a game why you have to be mad
And there is the kick and ignore option if you didn’t know and go with a guild if you want chill and normal run because you are always going to run in to things like this if you pug. Also your angry attitude isn’t helping someone get better it only tilts him to preform worse, what you basically accomplished with you’re anger here you just made me angry .

I don’t see the problem, its like I’m reading the average MGT pug
Its generally unforgiving and positioning there plays imo a bigger role then in others dungeons, all the tightly positioned groups means corner pulling

To what purpose?
Imagine logging in one Day and you have this debuff that states ‘cannot enter instanced zones until trial has been completed’

coincidence the same ppl u find botting regular random bgs also do this in rated ones
how do i know ? easy i always focus the healer and some specs/classes in my team arent doing interrupts/cc/aoe flag/any objective(yes in rated bgs)
all i want to know is why ppl join a rbg team if they wont go for win

It’s not that because everyone wants to win but some people aren’t good at the game as you are so you will have to learn to deal with it.

Botting RBG… Don’t make me laugh. Normally people that do all the things you just listed are generally mongoloid PVE scrubs that truly believe DPS wins battlegrounds or just newbies who don’t understand PVP and tactics…
I mean, I only RBG with voice now and I find teams that aren’t interrupting enough or CC’ing or they get ninja capped cos no1 is spinning the flag … They definitely aren’t botting because we are in voice, they just are scrubs or not focusing or just expecting someone else to do it for them

Guilty as charged I am the second type of person you described because of being a pve player some pvp tactics and mechanics are not known to me.

ofc do they even bother to link their most recent rbg achievement/put cr in note like leaders say in groups?
they dont
all i see is some stupid ppl like the ones you described just join and think they can win by stupid damage and no objectives.
also let me ask you this why are they even joining a rbg if they will do stupid stuff?

Everyone has to start somewhere, takes time to learn when you should interupt, cc or damage… But as long as you’re putting out some of each then you’re an asset to your team. Just be willing to take advice, ask questions and show your trying to improve and most teams will embrace you and help you get there.
Or if you literally just want to smash some people for a change of PVE, then just go wild! Not gunna lie, sometimes just go into Randoms to stomp, will always interupt but tunnel more rather than cc
1 piece of really good advice that helped me when I was playing dps rather than healer… When you see the kill target getting low, be the person that stop damaging and throw cc on healers or interupts… You won’t get the killing blow but you might prevent a SAC from a Hpal or Cocoon from a MW, so really you just saved the kill.

i see just wanna see if 1800 or 2k can be achieved in bfa with no voice
obviously for the new bonesteed mount and legionnaire title
also replica high warlord greatsword
p.s all those lost games i have seen somehow only i get to dps or interrupt any healer or get enough HP to do divine storm aoe rest do not even bother

When I’m making a group, I don’t take linked achieves or cr… Just use check-pvp website, tells you achieves and cr on the currently character as well as all the other characters on that account.
And they do it because they honestly think DPS wins battlegrounds… Because if you’re playing at low CR, you can get away with just mongoloid dps… But as soon as they get a bit higher, they won’t win and you know what will happen? They will blame the team because they always used to win! When actually it’s because you’re playing teams who know how to interupt and cc

yep other rbg leads should do the same thing you do even if no voice
