Hi all. It may be a basic question but I can’t figure this out. On most of my alts and on a new character that I just created the collections icon blinks every time I get a new piece of equipment and clicking on it doesn’t show anything with a “new” tag and I can’t seem to find what is triggering this or (most importantly) how to stop it / turn it off. After I click on collections it stops blinking, but then after I go through a portal or change zone or anyone of a number of things it starts blinking again.
I’ve even tried unchecking everything in appearances / sets and it still blinks even though there is nothing to show. I’m pretty sure that it’s the equipment / sets rather than mounts / battle pets as I rarely add to the latter.
Try turning off ALL addons. Go into the game then and try to reproduce. It seems most likely to me that this is some addon, or two addons interacting in an unexpected way.
Hi mate. I may seem a bit unusual in this respect but I’ve never installed or used any addon. I’m the only person that has access to this computer as well. So I can rule addons out quite explicitly.
Hm. So why does that blink … when you geta new pet, mount …
Is the new alt on Horde, maybe? Or an allied race? Have you fully checked mounts, pets, toys, where you got for example a new mount because of a new race?
It can also be triggered by a gift or a shop purchase that you have to unbox …
Could it maybe be that something new did get added, but that you have filters enabled ?
Both the Appearances > Items and Appearances > Sets page have a Filter button. If you’ve (for example) filtered out PVP Sets, and unlocked a new PVP set, then that could (i presume) result in the situation you’re seeing.
Check on Mounts and on the bottom left, Mount Equipment.
Usually the box is empty, but has been a recent addition so there should be a ‘New’ text inside that causes the collection tab to light up.
Hover over the said box to remove the text and the light up on the collection tab.
Thanks for all the replies. I’ll look at the mount equipment first as I only have that on my main. All others, I have 4 or 5 120 alts, that I don’t really do much with, of these, none have mount equipment. I am mostly Alliance with only one max level char on the Horde, mainly to get the Double Agent achievement.
I’ve also just started a Dark Iron Shaman and while the collections item does blink it is normal, new equipment shows a “New” tag and mousing over it stops the blinking.
