As soon as I pop combustion it gets dispelled, it feels kinda lame that so many classes can neutralize so fast. As fire my survivability is already bad and when I want to burst it gets removed. Anyone else that thinks this is a problem?
Dispellable combustion on its own is no that bad. You can deal with it by having people CCed during your setup. You can protect it with other buffs. However, when coupled with our every single defensive option being vulnerable to purge as well, some matchups are just really not fun to face.
Yeah, it kinda sucks.
Over time a large portion of the game’s offensive and defensive cooldowns have been made undispellable, but this like many other changes has passed Mages by.
It’s not helped by the fact that Shaman and Priests have a dispel with no cooldown and very little mana cost. The other dispels are actually balanced - Lock/Hunt/DH dispels have a cooldown, whilst Frost/Fire Mages can only use Spellsteal 5 times before going OOM and even though Arcane Mages can dispel ad infinitum, mana is their damage resource as well (not that anyone is PvPing as Arcane).
It was intentionally kept dispellable by Blizzard as a counterplay to its power in Shadowlands (with Disciplinary Command and Infernal Cascade boosts taken into account).
However, in Dragonflight both will be gone. Moreover, Fire burst, as was seen at DF beta testing, is now inferior to Frost and especially Arcane burst. Both of them have undispellable major cooldowns, so maybe Fire should have its as well. Or, at the very least, Blizzard could return Triune Ward (with 35-40% shield values) as a general tree talent - it would help with dispel protection for all 3 specs and would have some usage even in PVE (for all 3 shield effects and some shield value gain).
would be better if I could just purge the mage as a whole from the game.
Jokes aside, with all the buffs going on, I rarely be able to dispel combust.
good mages will rebuff themselves right before using combust. Of course it can happen if the dispeller is lucky, but if not, he wasted several globals purging useless stuff and is probably dead.
Using it in a high pressure situation makes it impossible to purge as you would just die trying
“waste” every purge you do is a literal gamebreaker for the mage, hotstreak gone, barriers gone, alter gone, burst gone. there is no such thing as a wasted diepl on a mage…
there is because usually you get whacked by another class as well and so you just don’t have globals to purge unless you just want to die.
try play a shaman against a mage and see how much dmg you do vs a mage if you only press purge all day.
Promise you that you will still die first
u can’t be serious, shaman triumph mages since vanilla.
