[Community] Battleborn
A Cross-Blizzard Community
For years, I have found myself playing almost exclusively in the Battle.net Launcher.
Whether my time in World of Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch or my undying love for Heroes of the Storm, I constantly find myself pulled between different groups or communities to play with anybody consistently. Whether to join a dedicated group for each game, or be on the lookout on third party sites or servers. What if there was an easier way, though?
Do you play more than one game in the Battle.net Launcher? Have you ever found yourself thinking or wanting a close-knit group that you could jump between the games with?
Seasonal updates, holiday features, limited events—wouldn’t it be better with friends?
Why don’t we make that space together?
Introduction
What is Battleborn? To put it simply, the idea is to create an overarching and accessible hub for individuals interesting in cross-game playing. In many ways, I imagine this kind of community to take shape by way of utilizing the tools provided through both Battle.net and the games therein. As such, existing as a Battle.net Group and thus easily accessible in various games means members can engage in whichever way fits them best.
For some Battleborn might be the community they engage with most, for others it might be a secondary community alongside an existing guild or group for or in a central game. Either way, this versatile and individual approach would be its primary function.
Overview
Whether you’re someone that has experience playing several games in the Blizzard Entertainment catalogue or you’re someone that only recently started playing, or only recently began entertaining the idea of playing more than one game—or is curious about other games because of this post—this should be the ideal gaming space to do it.
As part of Battleborn, each and every member is intended and created equal.
There are no ranks or prestige, no cliques or closed doors. There’s no pressure, no pushing, no expectations of prior knowledge or experience. Whether a new player or veteran, this is a place where any and all within the space are included and invited equal.
Beyond the basic needs of moderation in such a space [that’s to say, being an individual with the intent of creating posts like these, managing group settings, potential server management etc] Battleborn is intended to be a place void of dictating voices.
We’re here to play games, meet new people and have fun—that’s all there is to it.
Community
The community of Battleborn is intended to be a safe space for everyone that wants to be part of it, and it is perhaps only right and fitting to let the described core values directing the games and their development to set the foundation for that. This means a place that is meant and intended to be safe, open and welcoming to everyone on this foundation.
That’s to say—if you don’t intend to be a positive, inclusive force in this space …
… then this is not the space for you.

Blizzard Entertainment describes their vision and the set of values in their mission statement as a way to “Foster Joy and Belonging for Everyone”.
And that’s really all there should be to it.
These core values are listed as:
- For the Love of Play
- Passion for Greatness
- Better Together
- Strength in Diversity
- Boundless CuriosityFor this community, there’s really nothing more to this than simply an acknowledgement that these are central and agreed upon aspects important to the members. And that they can be expected to treat and be treated thereafter.

For now, this will be an initial staging ground to gauge interest for this initiative. Additional steps will be taken to streamline communication should there be a need for it, with potential and or future introductions of a Discord server or similar solutions.
