So they banned the training mannequins and added automatic dismounting. That’s a great improvement.
But people are who people are so they still spam the crab out of their AoE spells anyway. Many don’t understand that it makes no difference to just stand around and do nothing unless you have a Task or a Mob that “attacks” the Pot spawns.
This leads to various problems
Obviously Performance
If there are many Players then you might get a very very small amount of Tasks. Worst for me was a SINGLE Task over the whole 15 min (Yes, I tried to fly away after like 8min to reset it. Still got only one Task at the very end).
If you get the tenderize Task and you are not fast enough to hit the “Yes, Chef!” Button, it may happen that whatever you need to tenderize is done before you have even hit it once and bugging out the Task so that you are Stuck with it (Workaround is to fly away and reset your Task)
You need to be really fast to reach the Mobs that are attacking because if you don’t Tag it fast enough before the crazy people that can’t wait a few seconds until it reaches the Pot kill it, you won’t get any Rep for it
There are several solutions that could fix these issues.
Have more Phases in Iskaara around the Pot (Probably means more Servers → means more costs → means Blizzard won’t do it
If you’re not willing to add more Phases, then please add more Tasks that are given out to players or ensure that they are giving out fairly. So that you’re not having only 1 Task in the whole 15 min
When you get the tenderize Task, make it only possible via an extra Button, just like the “Yes. Chef!” Button. That way only Players that have that Task are able to do it (What an easy way to fix this Bug. Isn’t it ?
Make the Mobs that attack the Pot “not attackable” until they actually reach the Pot
These are just a few thoughts that come to my mind to improve the Community Feast. Feel free to add more. But please spare me with the “15 min is too long” nobody forces you to do it
Yes it does have performance issues when so many people are just spamming aoe for the whole 15 mins but :
Many times that quest type has popped up for me and completed before Ive even had time to react and yet Ive never failed to get the credit/rep for it.
Ive got rep from one of those kills even when its spawned whilst Im in the pot stirring so Im stuck there and cant do anything let alone tag the mob.
I know people do say they have issues with completing the weekly quest there but personally I have yet to fail to have it done on any of my toons, most of the time its completed with 5 or more mins left on the timer.
One quick fix would be, to redesign the 500 Iskarra rep quest to just require 1 completed task instead of 5. With RNG and if many people are there, getting 5 is difficult (never happened to me before though), but you should always get atleast 1 in the 15 minutes.
It would also work in a sense that if you get it early, you don’t have to spend additonal time with the tasks / beasts / Bisquis if you don’t want to.
they added extra tasks very recently
now when the beasts you kill explode into meat
try to rush and grab one of the meat chunks, you’ll get 1 task credit when you throw them into the pot.
the above is already ingame.
i would go further and suggest that killing a beast should count as 1 task completed aswell
Well if the meat to tenderize is gone before you even had the chance to hit the “Yes, Chef!” Button then there is a Chance that you will be Stuck on that Task (Doesn’t happens always)
So the “help” or spamming of AoE is not really helpful and creating more Problems then Help.
I don’t think blizzard’s problem is the lack of ideas on how to nerf this event but the fact that it would reduce the immersion, engagement and interaction it provides. And let’s face it, it started from a pretty low point to begin with.
They could make it similar to the “fly over and get credit” events like siege or grand hunts, but then people like me would come to the forum and make fun of open world content being free and braindead.
Hmm I never had any issue with solving that Quest. You have a week time to do it. So, many Feasts in between. Personally I would leave it at 5. If the Stuff is fixed that I mentioned you would be almost guaranteed be able to do it on one go.
But it’s not that easy, and I would be fuming if I had to do it multiple times. It’s up every 3 hours. I usually do it on a wednesday, but in order to do so, I have to plan it and think about it. I know 500 rep isn’t such a huge deal, but anyways.
If you work 8-4, means you’re home & by the computer at roughly 5 pm. This means that if you’re playing ‘normally’, you see 1 feast, maximum 2 per your playtime. It’s very easy to miss it due to other activities, or just by the fact that you miss it.
Personally, I made a macro so that I could bind the “Yes Chef” to a hotkey. Spamming that is easier than clicking the button.
Anyway:
Make it so that the “Defend the Soup” objectives pop a ‘Yes Chef’-Button.
Add a fail-safe so that if you’ve gone 5 minutes without a task, it automatically spawn a fish-head task for you. Or just letting people pop a “Yes Chef” at even intervals would do the trick.
Add an option to reduce other players’ (and enemies’) AoE to just coloured circles on the ground to reduce the amount of effects.
And most importantly: Have Lazerpig voice the chef.
