Made an account last month after many years away from WoW. Levelled and geared up in normal dungeons 10/10 experience.
Now there is a hard line being drawn. Cannot get into heroics, cannot get into even Karazan.
Ok level some reps to exalted and get some epics. Still same problem, cannot get into any higher content.
Ask to join guilds, no response. Try forming my own parties for them to disband when there leader is 1.379GS.
My experience at end game is 1/10.
It is a gatekept community and I’m better off spending my time elsewhere.

I suggest you do 10 arena games before reset (5 v 5 for cap in LFG chat). Find a group who’s only there to play 10 games (doesnt matter if you lose them all). By wednesday you get around 1000 points, enough to buy a level 130 item to boost your gearscore.
Do some normal dungeons to boost your gearscore further. Focus on rep that get you pre bis items. You should be able to cross the 1500 gearscore line, which is enough to be accepted for heroics (crossing the 1400 line is enough for healers and dps. The 1300 GS is what’s hurting you).
Once you can earn badges, save them for phase 4. When phase 4 starts trade badges for epics.
