I recently build a new desktop, with my GPU a copy of Shadowlands was included
I originally intended to just start playing wow when shadowlands released, but since it got delayed etc. I figured that I might as well gained some basic knowledge about the game and mechanics.
ATM I’m just getting a character to max level, but I keep wondering if I should just keep doing the quests that are getting fed to me or I should go to other specific places and farm there? should I worry about gear? I’m generally curious.
if it is the case that I should keep questing until I hit max level, what should I do first thing after i hit it?
If you have any videos, websites with guides or any other general tips and tricks that would help my experience feel better, I would highly appreciate that <3
Better focus on reaching max level atm which is 50.
Then you’ll have time to explore the open world or start finding items/mounts or things in general you wish to collect and start farming them on weekly basis.
When you are stuck on a quest or you dont kno what to do or when you need info about an item or w/e,just use wowhead and scroll down below to comments to find your answer.
You dont have to worry about your gear since you gonna replace everything when SL arrives.
Atm just focus on getting used to game mechanics, your spec/class and hitting max level.
My advice is not to pour into endgame gearing at current. Maybe run a dungeon or two or LFR to get a feel, but dedicated gearing at this point is a fairly long grind for a fresh player, for gear that will be redundant in about a month and replaced a few levels into SL.
My advice: use the time to level up multiple chars of different classes to discover your preferred play. It will serve you better to have a clear idea of what you enjoy playing and have a slight gearing gap (which will be non existent before max level) than to place all your eggs in one basket, having a char you may or may not enjoy compared to others just to preserve the advantage of a slightly smoother initial levelling experience in SL.
I deleted my “old guard” about a week ago (I tend to do this every expo) and already I have 8 chars around midway (25-30) as I’m rotating them. Plenty of time to get several classes to max level before SL hits.
SL is balanced around the assumption that you jump in directly after chromie time in whatever gear you have. It will be doable on a max level char who hasn’t taken time to gear in BFA at current, because the prepatch event isn’t permanent so the ilevel 100 gear being offered there cannot be a baseline assumption. In the same way although the War of Thorns gear made BFA initially easier, it was perfectly doable to jump straight into BFA after hitting 110 in scrub legion gear and quest perfectly fine.
Get 50 ASAP. The real game starts at the maximum level, everything you do before is just a warmup. You can do everything at 50 but not everything can be done while leveling.
Don’t join groups as tank unless you really know what you’re doing. DPS wait longer but have close to no responsibility.
When in doubt, Google it. Wowhead is your friend too.
And for your own good, and that of everyone who is going to play with you, do spend some time with dummies getting a feel of your character’s abilities. DH has tools for everything, use them wisely.
One quick tip i want to give to you is to take herbalism and mining (two professions) with you while you are leveling. As for now not to max those profession skills, but to sell everything you get out of it on the auctionhouse. Do that as Well with All the trade goods (cloths and RAW food for example). Whatever your gameplay will be like, i am sure the gold will be usefull to have, if not for your main then it will be usefull for your alts. Once SL is live, you could start a char with those professions there aswell to even rain more gold.
But no matter what people say: there are several ways to play this game and I wish you fun to find the right way for YOU!
