Concept new specialization for the future of World of Warcraft
Warlock - Soulspire
Core Mechanic: The Spirit Bond
Upon activating the Soulspire talent, your warlock relinquishes their corporeal form, transforming into an ethereal ghost. In this state:
- Your physical body becomes spectral: unable to interact with the physical world as you did before. Instead, all abilities, stats and gear are transferred to your summoned Felguard or Legionnaire.
- Your pet becomes your avatar of power: a channel for destruction or support, wielding the warlock’s might as their own.
Dual Paths: Damage or Support (eventually Tank aswell)
The Soulspire class introduces a flexible gameplay experience, allowing players to focus on either maximizing damage or providing essential support to their allies.
Path of Annihilation:
- Fel Empowerment (Spell): Your pet casts and unleashes a devastating spell damaging its target. Single target. Uses mana. Has pet cast-time.
- Void Surge (Spell): Your pet casts powerful AoE damage through your pet (PBAoE)(Point Blank Area of Effect) at his location. Dealing damage around him in a circular zone. Uses mana. Has pet cast-time
- Chaos Apocalypse (Spell): Your pet target an enemy and casts a damage over time area of effect (AoE) spell onto that target and nearby enemies. Uses mana. Has pet cast-time.
Path of Support:
- Spectral Boon (Spell): Your pet casts and transfer a portion of his own mana to nearby or single allie(s) restoring their resources; such as Mana. Uses mana. Has pet cast-time.
- Nether Resurgence (Spell): Your pet shouts attracting all nearby monsters to his location. Uses mana. Instant cast.
- Vigor Infusion (Buff): A group-wide buff that enhance armor and life regeneration. Uses mana. Is a buff. Instant cast.
Ghost Form: Beyond the Physical Realm
Even as a ghost, the warlock retains unique abilities that add depth to gameplay:
- Spiritwalk (Passif): Move swiftly through enemies, immune to physical attacks and magical attacks. Actually your ghost form is unkillable, though if your pet dies, your own character dies. Passif skill.
- Spirit Conduit: You cast and convert your own mana to transfer mana to your pet. Uses spectral mana. Has character cast-time.
- Spectral Rupture: Your spectral form (you) cast a damaging ability that deals chaos damage to your target. Uses mana (spectral). Has character cast-time.
Pet Management: A New Level of Depth
As a Soulspire warlock, your pet isn’t just a minion—it’s an extension of your soul. You’ll manage its abilities, positioning, and survivability in real-time:
-
While in spectral form though you are unable to mount up. Neither is your pet.
-
To be able to mount up, you need to dismiss your pet and then move freely, though unable to do any thing, ability-wise with your character.
-
You are able to leave your pet on “Stand” and walk freely with your spectral form to scout ahead up to a certain distance.
-
Able to multicast between you and your pet for double the damage. Or let your pet damage while you support your pet with mana, as your spectral form is able to give mana to your pet only. Though your pet can give mana to others.
Thematic Highlights:
The Soulspire embodies sacrifice, mastery, and symbiosis:
- The warlock gives up their physical form, embracing a state of unearthly power and dependency on their pet.
- The gameplay offers a unique challenge: excelling requires managing both the spectral warlock and their empowered pet in harmony.
- The dual role of damage or support adds versatility, making the Soulspire an invaluable asset in any group dynamic.
Soulspire is more than a class; it’s a transformation!
Are you ready to become the ghostly master of the battlefield and unleash the untapped potential of your warlock’s soul!
PS: This is work-in-progress to bring this concept to life in World of Warcraft.
PS: I don’t even play Warlock, but I would play this warlock.
