I am struggling to understand why, when simming my Outlaw Rogue, Raidbots seems to want me to stack Haste on my gear so much. I’m wondering why this is the case. Could be it be something with my currents stat weights that I am simply not comprehending?
I’ve tried researching this topic.
Icy Veins tells me to have between 350 - 400 Haste, and then switch to Crit/Vers.
Comparing to high-level players, I see a lot, if not all of them, have around 11-12% Haste.
I also read a lot of forum posts advicing 12% Haste, similar to guides and comparisons online.
However, Raidbots continues to advise me to go for 500+ and around 16% Haste.
If the “soft-cap” is truly around the 12% mark, why would Raidbots want me to push even further into Haste?
With my current gear, my percentages are as follows (this is with my elected gear, where I have currently ignored Raidbots).
Crit: 25%
Haste: 12%
Mastery: 18%
Vers: 17%
Running a sim, Raidbots would want me to go for this:
Crit: 24%
Haste: 16%
Mastery: 18%
Vers: 14%
This to me just seems to contradict the knowledge in the guides and whatever external information I am able to find.
To sum it up:
Is Raidbots 100% reliable, and should I blindly follow it? I assume it is basing its values on the latest and freshest information available to players.
Is the haste cap fluid and subject to change to such a degree that it would be beneficial to me to go with 16% Haste, rather than 12%, and losing 3% Vers at the same time.
Bonus question: When crafting my Celerity legendary on my Ring slot, I elected to go with Crit/Vers, as I was inspired to do so by looking at high-level players. Would I be better of re-crafting this as a Haste/Vers legendary instead? Could the issue described above stem from this early decision on my part?
You have single target scenarios and you have AOE scenarios. Both have slight variations of stat weights. When you sim, you probably only look at single target scenarios. The guides online have tried to make a good compromise between single target and AOE damage. This is also why you see top players aiming for 12-14 % haste.
Are you thinking about raiding or m+? And how are you siming?
It’s a bit tricky to sim for m+, but a good way is to go Patchwerk 5 boss targets 1 min or 45 sec.
I don’t know the logic and reasoning behind the haste, but JPC top rogue in M+ suggest the following: outlaw m+ - 340 haste, at least 20% crit, rest vers
My sims are around 5.5K. I do both raids and m+, but value raid performance over m+. I’ve been doing Patchwerk sims mostly.
The difference in sim result is neglitable between presented cases. I just wanted to understand the difference and discreprancy compared to knowledge found online.
I guess I should find a way to achieve an “overall” sim. Any Raidbots sim configuration towards that goal is welcome. I’ll try messing around a bit with it based on above input.
I sim 1 Patchwerk, dungeon slice and 5x patchwerk every time for every new piece of equipment i get. Then I think of the different outcomes.
1 patchwerk shows u stats/gear that is good for boss fights, whereas 5x patchwork shows u stats/gear for AoE fights. Dungeon slice, although in its beta, tries to combine these two.
I don’t play outlaw, but sub rogue. Anyway, whereas haste is potent for me in single target fights, it is close to worthless in AoE.
Therefore, I think about the two/three different sims and I try to find a balance, since single target dps is very important in M+ aswell, especially during tyrannical week.
If only you sim 5x patchwerk you are making a huge mistake if you assume that’s the best way to Sim a mythic+ dungeon, all it is showing is your dps on packs with 5 trash mobs. Meaning, that you will most likely fall short on the boss fights or single target fights.
I also have 25x spare items, necks, rings, capes, bracers, belts etc. around 207-213 that I switch around depending on content. Depending on the legendary im equipping and if I raid or do m+ I equip different gear sets. I recommend you do the same, if you get your hands on spare loot… you never know if you’ll need it once you replace a different item.
Just sim Patchwork, Cleave and AOE to get a good idea. But again the difference in the end will not be significant.
To say it simple, aim for 12-16 % haste. Go closer to 16 % for single target and closer to 12 % for AOE. Keep it simple. No need to overcomplicate these stat weights.
