Hey guys, hope someone can help me out with this.
For the last 2-3 years I’ve been checking The Storm Peaks on a nearly daily basis to see if its snowing. This year I started AFK-ing in the zone, while working from home, for the last 3-4 months.
I have yet to see any snowy weather… Am I doing something wrong? Do I have to “unlock” snowing somehow? What is happening?
If anyone has any tips or can tell me if I’m doing something wrong, it will be very much appreciated!
Well, in the WarcraftPets Discord, I have seen people looking for, and finding, their Arctic Fox Kit every so often over the past few months, so it does still spawn. We don’t see a lot of people, because the bulk of us have already got it, so it’s only new collectors.
Like the other Weather pets, it IS a potentially long camp, though not 2 or 3 years.
I remember it took me three weeks of camping for quite a while (one or two hours?) every day.
I suggest placing your camping character at one of the spawn locations of the fox, even though snow is a zone-wide condition, because in some places it is not always obvious that it is snowing, and that frozen lake at the NE of the zone often looks like it is snowing when it is not.
I got mine at one of the areas North of the Temple of Storms.
It Is Known that Warmode and sharding create different shards, so if you want to send multiple alts out and check them separately, you could maybe use that to cover more ground. I wouldn’t be especially hopeful about it, and it seems like a lot of work, but it is plausible.
They seem to spawn both for Chromie Time and Current Timeline (level 80) characters, so AFAIK that is not a problem.

My alt is max level, this pet is just driving me insane because I have all the Safari achievements, except the Northrend one because of this one pet…
I usually camp in the same area, the NW side of the map.
Do you know if it’s at all linked to irl time? Is there any chance that it just never snows during the time I afk while working? 
No, it’s not linked to time. Not for any of the Weather pets. Some pets are linked to time, but not these. We know this from official statements by the devs.
BTW, when you say you afk, is there any chance you might just have missed spawns?
My work pc is right next to my personal PC, I just glance over to my left while working to see the game, so if something happens, I can easily see it.
The weather never changed from “sunny” (or whatever the default is~) to snowy…
I did the same when camping for the Time Lost Protodrake and waited for it to fly by me.
What do you mean by that? How would you know?
The snow is barely visible. You can see it, at least I could, but you do have to look carefully.
Umm… whenever I looked there was nothing in the air, no particles or anything.
That’s why I would camp spawn points. Look for the foxes, not the weather.
Does the weather not change visually? ;o

But I suppose I can start looking for the pet regardless of weather
This may be stupid, but I was so stupid.
Had a toon camping for a snowy weather pet and it never showed because I had pet tracking off.
I feel you on that one haha
But I do have pet tracking on
