Confused by flying mount ability on reactivated account (for DK)

NB: This is on live WOW, not Classic

I reactivated a very old account and my 60 plus characters which are now 20s and 30s. Multiple sub-30 characters all can ride and fly the flying mounts from my collection

Except for my death knight (DK) which is lv27 at the moment. I can get on the flying mounts with my DK but they don’t fly

Could this be something to do with the DK flying mount quest line? Or has anyone got any clue why this problem only affects my DK? Do I just need to wait until lv30 and it will sort itself out or could it be a bug?

Yes, I know. But I have multiple characters under lv30 with flying mounts that fly. Why do they work, but not for the DK?

mmm thats weird. probably some bug that came along with an account thats been reactivated during multiple stat an level squishes

Are you 100% sure that this Death Knight had the ability riding skill high enough to fly back when you were playing? Maybe you you never bought it on that character. You don’t need expert riding nowadays to actually get on the flying mount, it just won’t fly with lower level skill.

As far as I know characters didn’t lose their riding skills with the level squish so it was possible for sub 30 characters to have flying that way. Regardless you will be able to fly at 30 so it’s not a big deal, it’s relatively quick to get those 3 levels.
