Connect Delves with Class Halls and Artifacts

I’ve been playing a lot of Legion timewalking, while leveling my characters, and I love the systems there with all these artifact weapons, class halls, etc. When I look at online discourse, people seem to have mixed opinions about it. The controversial part seems to be “AP-grind”.

I’m not saying, they should make everyone spam world quests, but I think Blizzard could explore borrowed power, and class items. It doesn’t need to be a weapon necessarily, it could also be something else. Everything is account-wide at this point, so the circumstances also changed a bit in this regard.

I do feel like the concept of artifact powers with unique effects would fit perfectly to Delves. Instead of tying delves strictly to Brann, you could tie them to class halls, where you can discover lost artifacts of fallen champions inside ancient ruins. Also, delves are similar enough to other instanced PvE, where I think people wouldn’t be upset, if they had to do an initial quest chain there, or grind certain artifacts once, which they could upgrade after from their preferred PvE-content. The Legion quests to get certain ancient weapons really remind me of that.

Another thing one could connect with Delves and Class Halls are Glyphs! What if archeology as a profession could unveil certain lost artifacts inside delves, bring it to an expert in the class hall, and then receive a glyph, a warlock tome, or something similar.

They also don’t need to make new class halls, as we have them already in the game. They would just need to refresh the content inside, and they could turn it into an evolving evergreen instance every expansion.

This sounds intriguing and something I would like to see, except for

It’s not that it couldn’t be done, or that I would be opposed to it if done in a way that wasn’t an endless grind that also relied on RNG, but sadly Blizzard have shown us in the past that they couldn’t/wouldn’t do that.

I do think though that if the algorythms show that Delves are a success (lots of people participating) they may be open to improving on their first iteration. But I hope that borrowed power won’t be something they add - sorry :frowning:

What if the artifact powers were like an evergreen gem slot system, that had 4 different types of ilvls - veteran, normal, heroic, and mythic? Or… something like that? Do you remember, how the old artifact weapons worked? What if you had something similar basically without the infinite AP grind

They should have expanded on the class hall from the very start, giving you quests from certain NPC’s while you level the class.

As you gain more power and attention from the others, the quest eventually streamlines from both factions into one group and tackle more world-changing tasks together while they slowly add you to their class hall roster - And eventually end up at the very top as their champion.

I don’t want to sound negative, but there is no way I can say this without it coming across that way.

If there is RNG involved, then some will get all their gems soon, others may be extremely unlucky and not get their gems for months or more and that just leaves the unlucky players feeling as if the time and effort they put in is not rewarded. Now I personally prefer to have goals that are obtainable, be that through tokens or something similar. It’s not that I want everyone to have things at the same time, some people play more hours/less hours etc, but at the very least individuals should be able to set themselves a timescale of when they reasonably expect to achieve that goal.

I hate how much Blizzard rely on RNG for everything, if they add yet another example of this say with your gem concept, then we not only rely on RNG from the vault items, but then also additional RNG to get the gem!!!

We have seen it time and time again, people have complained that they didn’t get tier set for months and they lost out on raid spots/Mythic+ invites etc. Do you really trust Blizzard to implement anything better for delves?

I think class halls were extremely popular, it’s a shame that Blizzard didn’t expand on them as you say, I think they could have been an evergreen feature if done right.

They were kinda destroyed at the start of the expansion though.

yup 2 got destroyed and we lost acces to another 3 (although 2 of those were demon portals wich could be brought back i think and the other one is like a light portal i believe so those 3 could return)

You must really hate rogues, don’t you? Our class hall was just trashed :face_with_spiral_eyes:

in better news ravenholdt may still be standing :eyes:

Did you skip Cata? It was literally burned down in legendary dagger questline :expressionless:

Perhaps as much as you skipped legion. It was rebuild before legion as mr wolfe is gathered from there

Yes! I really miss class halls and I think Blizzard should bring them back to life one way or another. Sure, there are few class halls which have been destroyed or otherwise inaccessible now but I’m sure they can come up with a solution for this.

It might be cool to have class halls somehow involved in the leveling process, like once every 10 levels a new class specific quest(line) appears and completing it would increase your stand in the order. Once you get the Highlord/Archdruid/Deathlord w/e title it becomes something else and that something else could change per expansion

The problem with Borrowed Power systems like AP (well, one problem) is that you have to be constantly grinding it or you fall behind. If you fall behind then your raid spot is in question and forget about PuGing anything.
You go on Holiday for 2 weeks, well that’s it your season is wrecked. You’re in bed with Flu for 5 days. well that’s it you’re stuffed. Busy week at work and you’re tired? Tough, you have to do your grind whether you want to or not.

Of course they can have a good Catch Up systems but then why even have the grind at all? If they just give you the AP for free if you fall behind then why bother grinding?

I agree with this. One of the biggest mistakes of Legion (or maybe BFA) was the abandonning of Class Halls.
I do think we as characters shouldn’t have been class leaders after Legion (maybe not even in Legion) so we should have had quests to promote new Class Order leaders. As far as I know I’m still head Shaman although not been to my Order Hall in years.
The Orders should play a bigger role in the story. We Shaman should have been all over the Primalists in DF.

There is so much scope for story telling with the Class Halls. As well as gameplay, class quests, training scenarios (like what Monks get at the Temple of the White Tiger).
