This is just redicolous how people are still misleaded by THE GAME.
The game shouldn’t mislead, especially new players, with the IN GAME information about realm population; a lot of realms with ,high population’’ or ,new players server’’ description are just scam, because they are dead servers and Blizzard do not do anything about that.
You don’t understand, peasant? - Blizzard said - without spending a lot of money in our game for sub, dlc and faction/server transfer you can’t expierience our game! Even if it isn’t your fault; what you do not understand?
E.g. i am new to the game - i probably do not know anything about it, but… I felt scamed by Blizzard. I have chosen Outland because i remember it was a big faction-balanced realm in 2014 or 2015 and because i got there some characters from very old expansions; also the fact that the REALM POPULATION IS HIGH made me believe that it is good choise… What a failure… The realm is dead since few years as i checked on some websites and before you say that ,it is your fault that you didn’t check the realm on other sites’’ or ,just pay to them for server transfer lol proceed to inhales copium’’ i want just to say - the game shouldn’t mislead players with in-game options and i shouldn’t be a detective to look for a informations about realm before playing if the game provides some information about it which are false or are a trap (like ,new players’’ realm).
For now i am unable to find any guild (which do something instead of typing) or play any raid - the content which i payed for is not avaiable for me due to fact that Outland realm is dead, as i said before.
Do you have problem like this too? I really enjoy the game but i am pissed off that i can’t play e.g. raids because i need to EXTRA PAY for realm transfer. In my country the 50 euro for 3 characters is a bunch of money… I think that for people who earn in euro it is high too (the cost of almost 4 months of abo O.o). I think that Blizzard finally should just connect other dead realms to bigger ones and stop doing that acts of greed (e.g. in Final Fantasy you need to pay - as i remember - 18 dollars and you can transfer as much characters as you want).
Post scriptum: sorry for my London but i had a dissociative amnesia and i am learning english for 3 months rn.

Make a new character on a populated server? Who says you have to pay for transfers.
It’s not an ideal solution but it fixes your “I don’t want to pay” reason.

Of course i can but what is the sense in action to lose all you have because Blizzard is a anti-player company who just do not care that they are misleading players in their own game. Also it is not ,i don’t want to pay reason’’ - it is i do not want to pay for misleading me and scaming.

Said - informing you about population of the server, where all accounts are dead or saying that ,THIS REALM IS THE BEST FOR NEW COMMERS’’ (where whole server is dead which is negation of best server for new players) is misleading
What? Like the wording next to each realm when choosing you mean, you know where it says "Full’ etc?
If only they would allow you to roll a character for free on a realm to see how busy it was?

So in that case i need to test all realms to check how it is going? Of course!
I should also level up every character to 60 and 276 iLVL to check if there are some guilds or mythic raids avaiable!
Dont be pedantic! If you see "new players’ next to a realm, then you should know the situation! If you choose ‘full’ or ‘medium’ then a test character will give you the info you need.
And this is different how! You’d have an idea within 10 mins at the level of the realm simply by being there!

Thats at least two expansions where you could work out the populations of each realm.
But i play from 10 of May 2022 kekw. Maybe i am on forum due to old accounts from Battlechest or doing hearthstone quest for skins; idk.

Quite imposibble. I created this mage 12 of April on free trial.
Then explain you logging in for the Warcraft premiere, its on your achievements. Thats account wide, so it doesn’t matter which character. So you’ve had a warcraft account since 2016

How can you be new…and have characters from very old expansions? 
Nonetheless I do agree that something needs to be done about dead servers.

Point still stand though, I’d probably prefer confirmation of ally deadness on outland from someone impartial at this point though.
Definitely wrong server for horde anyway, quick google or forums visit would give you the top 5
Also aren’t you connected to stormscale? Pretty sure you are unless there’s an identical named guild on there. Anyway, if that’s the case population is fine.
