I am a bit confused. I see a Conquest cap of 1200. So does that mean, that I wont earn ANY conquest untill next week ? So I wouldnt make any sense to do arena to gain conquest for new equip ? Do I get this right ?
It means you can get a max of 1200 conquest this week

If I don‘t cap this week, can I go for 2.400 Conquest points next week? It says: Conquest Season.
Yes, the cap will get extended so you can catch up.
But it’s kinda stupid to add such low caps in a season that will only last 2-3 months. By the time you get full gear df will already be on a prepatch

You got it right, this week at best you can buy one new conq piece and the rating you push you can upgrade the said one piece for the weeks push
Next week it will be 2 items + 3rd if you were lucky with vault
It is going to take multiple weeks from now before the rating you gain now can be used on upgrading these gears on this upgradeable pvp ilvl game
And dont forget you need to cap on that rating each week aswel to do the upgrade on the pieces you buy, rank gained now wont let you upgrade anything later on till you cap again

Now I wonder, is it more wise to keep my s3 gear with the set bonus or buy and upgrade the s4 aspirant which i cant give the set bonus. Its basically set bonus vs more ilvl
Well pvp is the one thing I never really did, so I wanted to get in and get gud u know ?
keep your set and focus on getting big weapons

my guess is that the remove the cap after 4-6 weeks so the dragon slayers already farmed all their gear
