I will preface this by saying: Yes. I know there are lots of ways to get conquest. But my issue is that I find the conquest rewards to be disproportionally low in random battlegrounds.
Now - anyone who does random BGs will be pleased to see the inclusion of the honour gear. But the fact remains that the honour gear just can’t keep pace with the conquest gear.
Once you get your daily win out of the way, the reward for winning a bg drops to 8 conquest. eight conquest.
Anyone who does Random BGs know’s that they’re not easy to win. They require patience, time – and often thick skin as you navigate the toxic community (which I’m sure none of you here are.)
The two-handed sword is 1800 conquest - 225 BGs - assume a 50:50 win-rate (mine is lamentably 47%), that’s 450 Bgs - it’s on average 20 minutes per battleground - 9000 minutes - 150 hours of BGs just to get the sword…
There are 14 other conquest items.
I know that conquest is meant to be earned in rated content primarily. I know that Blizzard are wary about people just AFK farming their way to the gear with 24/7 botting etc.
But frankly. 8 conquest for a win is far too low - low to the point that it’d take even an avid fan of Random BGs months to farm!
Am I alone in thinking this? What do you guys think – I’d love to hear your opinions.
I think it’s fine if you keep up with the weekly schedule, so to speak.
The first win of the day is really the Conquest reward that makes it somewhat doable to cap.
If you win a regular and an epic battleground every day, then you’ll cap out on Conquest before the week is over.
It’s painstakingly slow if you try to brute force it by playing a lot of regular battlegrounds in a single day, because the reward after the first win of the day is so small.
So yeah, it’s fine if you keep up and play a little bit every day. Otherwise it’s a bit uphill.
I think the silver lining is that the weekly Conquest cap is only half of what it used to be in previous expansions, so that by itself makes it easier.
Daily bg, epic bg, brawl bi-weekly. Getting 550 conq weekly will be a breeze with a minimum amount of play and you will be able to purchase normal raid tier gear.
More than enough
The problem with conquest in unrated PVP isn’t the acquisition - yes, it’s slow, but the pace is tolerable.
The problem is that the gear you buy will only be 200. Because higher ilvls require doing rated. Now, you can do rated once and climb to, say, 1400 or 1600, and then you will be able to upgrade your pieces to 207 or 213 without doing any more rated. But if you aren’t into rated, it isn’t going to be easy or pleasant. Especially if you aren’t a meta spec (which you most likely aren’t, because few people in random BGs are). And 207 isn’t going to be enough, 213 is really the bare minimum because in a few months people will be sporting 220 / 226. Frankly, it’s just easier to ignore rated and do M+, that’s going to get higher ilvl gear faster and with less effort.
They should remove rating requirements on upgrading conquest gear. People with ratings are already rewarded by those ratings, they get titles and mounts, etc, and face better teams - that’s the whole point of ratings.
Alternatively, cap all gear in random BGs to the maximum ilvl obtained from them - 200.
