Consequences of the Ren'dorei (8.3 spoilers)

It’s the Danuser interview which as of now is the latest source on the reception towards void elves – they are met with hatred from the gen pop due to them not being able to tell the difference between them and Twilight’s Hammer. And that’s fine, it makes it more interesting to be quite honest and I :+1: this thread idea

Sorry, but I do have to disagree with this because Takkihira said the void elves are from the (thalassian) faction that renounced the Alliance, while the factions I stated also at one point or another left the Alliance (or its member races) and in the case of the Dark Iron even allowed the Old Horde to (grudgingly) use their mountain fortress and later on joined with the Twilight Cult willingly (before Moira “freed” them).

I mean, sure you could throw it on the void elves being former Horde members, but that’s I think just a question of interpretation where you interpreted it as them having to have joined the Horde, while I interpred renounciation as leaving/ignoring/abandoning the Alliance (or its member races).

Oke, shuck it.

Marolenn, while I will admit I partially goofed up and do apologise for acting so confrontational.

I am of the opinion the fault is not entirelly (but admittedly mostly) mine I could have worded most of the things I did say better, or atleast less confrontational, and openminded to you and your suggestions.

And I hope you will accept my apology, I do not wish to be the guy that shoots down every oppertunity for roleplay because “lore” says something else.

That was a misunderstanding because I missed one of Daelhad’s posts, that I did want to apologise for because at his post I did goof up. But since he said my brain was clogged with al the christmas food I dropped the thought of apology. I mean, he chose to ignore the post where I admitted I goofed up and then started to insult me :man_shrugging:

What am I supposed to be seeing here? Accept a manchild not wanting someone to have the last word?

I… I did not know that, thanks for clearing that up Telaryn.

Also, I type slow because I was also raiding.

don’t worry there’s already 8.3 in the thread title i suggest just reading things better and not overinterpreting as much as you seem to do

Alright, hit me. What part did I ignore that wasn’t sufficiently answered by one statement or another already? Is the issue that I don’t quote the full paragraph or something? I do that to safe space.

Progress!

This is why you’re supposed to ask things.

Let’s just… could you read my previous post I editted it.

And this is starting the :fire: in me again to fight and argue…

I’m gonna assume you meant you ‘don’t wish to be the guy… etc’

Other than that, apology accepted, and big ups on doing so. Likewise apologies for getting a bit passionate, but I think you can see why I did.

Eh, woops. My bad gonna edit that part again

Don’t worry about it, we’re both passionate about WoW, it’s what makes this game great.

That people are still passionate about it after more then a decade!

People apologising on AD?! Proud of you.

Yeah, it’s largely to do with the fact that the Thalassian faction joined the Horde, while Kul Tiras didn’t, and we’ve always had a Good Boy:tm: Mechagnome faction to tag along with (at least the Mechagon Mechagnomes before you bring up Northrend).

As for Dark Irons - Chronicles 3 makes it very clear that Moira did free the Dark Irons through her political machinations (using adventurers to clear out Blackrock Mountain for her, after they murdered her husband), and that by getting Ragnaros killed, she earned the loyalty of the Dark Irons. She’s widely viewed as their liberator.

“The Void is a terrible thing,” Danuser says. “It’s corruptive. [Stormwind] has seen people, including [their] own archbishop, turn against [them]. They saw what Deathwing did, and the Twilight cult that followed him. So to have someone presented to you as an ally is a jarring thing, and not everyone’s going to feel comfortable with that.”

I will be doing no hunting or any of the sort. In fact, I feel like velves will be the ones helping with the corruption the most, but that’s my assumption for the moment. If Stormwind returns to riots and whatnot, I’d rather stick to Sinaldra here or not RP in the city for a while. One bout of riots was enough for me. I’d like to see how exactly velves are affected in 8.3 before I jump the gun, though.

They aren’t really called out specifically, but (as noted above) as far as I can tell on the PTR they feature prominently among the cultist enemies. Make of that what you will.

I haven’t paid much attention to the Horrific Visions stuff on the PTR. I figured I’ll experience them when I experience them, but that one caught my attention because of the implications. Do you have any links to check them out?

We’re going to need a dependable guard guild to preserve law and order. The threat of suicide bombings is going to be very real. All you need is one crazed void elf to tackle hug a Lightforged Draenei, and BOOM! Both explode in a shower of flesh, funky-colored blood and twilight sparkles.

I hope it will lead to something interesting but not derailed. More suspicion and dislike is a given imo, but it can also give opportunities for gatherings and rp of likeminded.

I am up of the rest of the Alliance and even guard guilds being suspicious or wary of the void elves. Heck, I would be up for the odd questioning from other people.

But I don’t know if I’d want to be surrounded by 10+ people trying to take one void elf away for questioning. It’s never happened to me before, but from what I hear it always ends in some drama. I can nearly see an event called ‘The siege of Telogrus Rift’.

But in all seriousness, I’d understand the suspicion others may place on the ren’dorei, but not to go out of their way to start swarming people with more than 5+ if it is just to question a void elf.

Not quite the same as outright hate among the common populace as I read it, but interesting regardless.

Like I said earlier, if it’s in line with a character, go nuts with the paranoia/intolerance. It’s all good.

The common populace isnt a hive mind either.

Never said it was.

Bit of a whacky comment then, whether the interview states they are hated or mildly suspicious is completely irrelevant - As you also edited in with your second sentence.

If you like.

What Takkihira forgot to quote was the sentence before that saying that the void elves are treated with malice and distrust.

The Void Elves are popular with players, but in the universe of Azeroth, they’re maligned and stick to the shadows. In the Stormwind Cathedral, Void Elves players are either subtly threatened or politely asked to leave.
