/console cvar_default not working

Since nobody can answer me how I can fix problem with not beeing able to click left mouse, I read in support that you can total reset UI with this console command. But when i type it I get error that I don’t have permission to perform that function.
Any way around it ?

Thanks.

You can completely reset your UI by going to your World of Warcraft retail folder and deleting the WTF, Cache and Interface folders.

The CVar command is mostly specific things. The mouseclick issue may be related to addons, or it could be a need to update your mouse drivers
Try the UI reset first though!

I mentioned in other post, everything was reset, I tried logging at job and at friend’s computer and it isn’t working as well. I deleted Cache, WTF and Interface and it is not working. Besides , logically if three different computer systems can’t click left mouse it should not be mouse or interface problem especially if it is reset. Also mouse works normally when you click other things like spells on a bar or mailbox, just not 3d world, like NPCs, or anything bascially…like it doesn’t exist in 3D.

Hi, Krkanka! o/

Have you tried resetting your keyboard bindings? While it shouldn’t be possible to rebind the mouse main buttons, I’ve seen two or three cases where it somehow happened, and resetting these helped.

Otherwise, the error for not having permissions to use a command usually happens when at some point you chose to not allow console commands. Resetting the interface as Olbynx suggested should reset this option, and the permissions error should no longer appear.

I used new Cache, Interface and WTF, by making them OLD. I also reset user settings to default. That should probably reset key bindings I assume. This persmission still apeears after i reset everything. And also this same problems happens on other system. I logged at job and at friend’s computer to see if it works…but it is the same there too.

Oh and btw I don’t have retail just classic if that matters.

Hi again, Krkanka! o/

Keybindings are saved in a different way, so they are not reset when you reset the interface or the settings. In order to reset your keybindings, go into the game, and press Escape. Then, Keyboard, and you’ll see a button on the bottom left to reset the keybindings.

Yes it worked. Thank you.

Edit: fml I didn’t see it’s already there but collapsed under “Advanced Troubleshooting”

Since this is one of the top results on Google - You cannot completely reset your UI by deleting the WTF, Cache and Interface folders as described on the Knowledge Base.

Certain CVars are stored server side and will be restored from the server after deleting your WTF folder. You’ll need to use the command from the topic title as well to do a proper reset:

/console cvar_default

See https://wow.gamepedia.com/CVar_cvar_default

That UI error message is normal, it tries to reset some protected CVars but proceeds to work fine for the other ones.
