ConsolePort on ROG Ally

I have been playing wow now for two and a half months on the Asus ROG Ally with ConsolePort. I have no problems with using the Ally controller or my 8bitdo controller with retail. It’s great but I do have troubles with it on Era and gotten worse after this latest patch.

After starting and playing a little, the Rog Ally would freeze completely. After about 30sec it would unfreeze and go back into the game and see a notification in yellow in the chat area that the controller disconnected and reconnected. Sometimes I could play on and not having any troubles further, sometimes it would mess up the fps and need to restart wow and the same thing would happen. As long it survives, I could play without any problems further.

But this changed with the latest Era patch. Now it will freeze the Rog Ally real fast after login and the game crashes during the freeze and I get the message not able to start 3D acceleration.

There is no way to play Era like this and am wondering if there is some information perhaps to solve this. According to ConsolePorts discord this is not a problem with the addon, so that’s why I’m here now.

(I just hope, now with all these first generation handheld pc’s, that you will implement native controller support)

Edit: It could also be that turning off monitor thing and screen goes black thing I’m reading about here on the forums, but seeing controller disconnect reconnect I don’t know if that’s the same issue, wow era keeps running with the black screen and I thought due to the message it must be with the controller, now I’m not sure.

Blizzard don’t offer support for Addons, you would need to seek support from the Addon Creators.

While I can’t say for certain, I suspect the ROG Ally is “Unsupported Hardware”, if thats the case, support won’t be able to offer support for it either.

If you were to post in UI and Macros about the addon, you might find other players more able to help you with the addon.

Or maybe other players could help you with regards to the handheld computer, just not Blizzard.

It’s a standard laptop chip in a non-laptop form factor and it runs Windows. It’s above minimal requirements and is “supported” by the game.

I asked the creators and they said it’s not the addon. But I’m suspecting that it has to do with Armory Crate SE and the addon conflicting controller software with eachother. I’ll try to run in handheld mode without Armory Crate SE, maby that will change this but you will lose all that Armory Crate SE can do so I was not keen on trying this before asking somewhere. I will post this on the Asus forums I guess. I just hoped any here had similar problems and could help me further or something of course

I’m actually only running ConsolePort and nothing else and their basic wow ui for now in handheld. In desktop mode I simply use no addons.

Running wow in desktop mode works good, so I’m not to sad about it. I just have to remember not playing Hardcore like that

But I have to say that playing wow on a handheld on the couch is more comfortable and relax for just leveling a bit. I got so used to playing on a handheld and hope they will just put controller support in the game. And why not do it to attract more players on a Steam Deck or ROG Ally just like Diablo
