Constant Disconnects

Hello,

For the past month approximately i have been experiencing disconnects 2-3 times per hour. I am at my wit’s end and have tried many solutions. I’ll detail below some important information pertaining to the disconnects and some of the fixes I have tried.

  • Every disconnect, every aspect of the world will freeze for approximately 2-3 seconds before I get the standard disconnect message (WOW51900319). On some occasions I am able to move my character around inside the otherwise frozen world.
  • I have a wired connection, and no other application suffers during the times I am disconnected.
  • After being disconnected I am able to log back into WoW as fast as I can type my password and spam enter.

Attempted fixes:

  • Repair and Scan WoW.
  • Disabling all AddOns
  • Renaming WTF, Interface etc. to WTFOld and so on.
  • Closing other applications to ensure there is no conflict.
  • Flushing DNS and power cycling my router/modem.

I have downloaded WinMTR as seen on the forums, and I have 3 .txt files for each of the three EU IPs spanning my game opening until the inevitable disconnect.

I am so sick and tired of raiding with the fear of being disconnected in the middle of a pull, logging back on and being dead. It’s not only affecting me but also my guild.

I have the WinMTR files but I’m not sure if these will help and if so what to do with them.

Please help Blizzard :frowning:

Have you checked the cables (from computer to the router and from the router to whatever method you use for Internet) and their condition? At one point I received random disconnections every couple of hours and it turned out to be my DSL connection was dropping because the cable was slightly loose.

MTR files are potentially helpful as they might show how far connection drops (eg. before reaching your ISP, in your ISP or somewhere else). I recommend using the preformatted text (</> icon on the editor’s toolbar) as that should make MTR logs more readable.

Hey Drutov,

Thank you for listing the steps you have gone through, and for preparing the WinMTR’s as well. Before posting those, I would like you to have a look into the Connection Troubleshooting Support Article. There are a few additional steps listed there, please do go through all those steps listed thoroughly once more and retest again.

If that still does not improve things, please run a new WinMTR test. Run the test for about 10 minutes while playing World of Warcraft, or until you disconnect. If you do not disconnect during those 10 minutes, please restart the test so it best tracks the issue.

Once ready, post it here as Preformatted text </> so we can have a look.

Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I have followed all of the steps in the Connection Troubleshooting guide to no avail.

I’ve listed each of the WinMTR files below for your attention:

same thing is also happening to me for at least 2 weeks

Same thing here, at times I stay connected but then can’t interact with NCP’s or even logout

Suffering the same issues as OP so following thread. Constant disconnects, tried everything. Will see what suggestions get posted here and try them myself. Already have WinMTR’s ready to go. If I don’t get any joy, I’ll make my own thread in the near future.

Exactly the same thing is happening to me, Internet and all other games work perfectly. I had a lengthy message exchange with my ISP (Virgin Media UK) this morning and to be fair they did try everything they could on their end to find any issues. In the end they came to the conclusion this is really on Blizzard. This is a completely fresh install of Windows 10 64bit (fully updated, drivers etc) and this happens on other PC’s we have as well.

Bump - Blizzard please respond.

check your router temperature i mean put ur hands on it, i had an issue where my router keeps getting over heated and it caused me many issues til i replaced it, i do keep a laptop cooling table under my router since there is a USB port in my new router and it keep it cool since many use the router here, it might be ur issue or not but i thought this might help, good luck!

Have had the same issue for the last 3 days , play np, then cannot interact with npcs and have to force shutdown . Seems really random. With Virgin in the UK

I’ve provided the WinMTR data - can you please review and respond asap, Blizzard?

Are you all using Virgin Media? If so, looks like the ISP has some issues. The MTR had some packet loss but nothing really major so hard to say outright whre the problem lies.

Just wanted to add, same issues and also with Virgin Media

Same here. Virgin Media claim that there’s no problem with my line but I have proof that I’m experiencing packet loss.

For those here with Virgin Media UK, they’ve acknowledged to me they’re aware of a fault that’s causing this issue and they are working on a fix.

I’ve found that for me, switching my router to modem-only mode (requires wired connection) fixes the issue. Evidently this isn’t ideal because you won’t be able to connect other devices to WiFI whilst this is active. But, being able to do this so i don’t disconnect during raid or M+ is a relief for the time being.

I don’t live in the UK or use Virgin Media for that matter, but I am still getting these disconnects frequently. It seems to not be a connection issue and more of a client issue. First time it happened, I changed my graphics settings and it fixed it. Second time it happened, that didn’t work so I deleted my Cache folder and it fixed it. Third (current) time, nothing’s working. I enter the world and don’t even have to wait five seconds before getting disconnected.

Bump. With Ziggo, in the Netherlands. It’s been happening for the past week, and it seems to be getting worse if anything.
I’d love to hear what Blizzard has to say about this…

I tried to log in multiple times last night but it kept come up as a wow51900102 error. Blizzard what is going on? Please respond. Oh and im not with Virgin media

I get discconnect on a frequent basis… becomes unplayable if trying to do raids, pvp arena…
