They took logs from them and said ’ we’ll get back to you’ kinda thing but many tried their own fixes.

It is cuz blizzard dynamically observes the gameplay of the popular kids and changes their g data accordingly.

I did a full reinstall, now that it seem s the mini patches are less frequent.

For me, this finally fixed it.

Indeed the investigation into the cause of this is still ongoing and there is no current ETA for a fix.

Just to re-iterate the currently available workaround:

• Uninstall and reinstall WoW
• In the Battle.net app Settings → Game Install/Update → Turn off download future patch data under Automatic Updates, by changing the selection to “Apply latest updates for recently played games”

Additionally, I couldn’t say if any future fix will retroactively heal up existing installations, so if anyone is still holding out on re-installing, now might be a good time to do that or make arrangements for it in case data transfer caps need to be considered.

Fully installed WoW is downloading on background?

It’s not the Shadowlands Prepatch. I just did a fresh install of WoW and when I launched the game it lagged a bit but then stabilized. After loading into Boralus the FPS was constantly stuttering and I noticed that the “Downloading important game data” symbol was lit on top of my screen? Even though I did a full install, and also downloaded the beta and Classic files (prepatch data should be included). Yes that is exactly what we were discussing . That the ‘fix’ does not really fix and just lessens the number of times it occurs.

If you have slow internet I really wouldn’t bother with that ‘fix’. My download was fast and although I backed up my addons the only thing I lost was weakauras.

it was more by way of information received that we shouldn’t actually expect a fix at all from Blizzard. Even if they do “fix” what caused the issue, it may well not work retrospectively. So, if you already have it … don’t expect Blizzard to get rid of it for you.

I’m in the process of redownloading, after holding off waiting for a Blizzard fix. But after that message i just decided to go for it. Luckily I’m on a fairly decent speed connection. I’ll see if that sorts it.
