What settings for this you use ? I feel like all colors in game are washed…and when i change something map and ui looks bad.
I’d say everyone probably has it set to default
In the game colours are actually represented from 0 to 1 (decimally) and the job of these settings is to convert those numbers into integers from 0 to 255 so they can displayed on your screen.
But different displays represent colors differently, so the right curve isn’t known by Blizzard, hence these settings.
In layman’s terms, A lower gamma will make middle colors appear darker and more vibrant, while contrast causes the colors to go away from the grays and brightness obviously increases or decreases every color.
To find out what settings to use you should use the contrast ratios and monitor brightness settings.
Nobody does this because nobody knows how.
Most games have two guides that show an icon on a black and gray and white background or some such and the icons have different shades of grey and you have to make it so they’re barely visible. Diablo 4 does this, no idea why WoW doesn’t. WoW could use HDR support, too.
My settings at a gamma of 1.6 (0.8 in WoW, WoW has normalized it to 1, dunno why), a brightness of 45, and a contrast of 53. Measured it.
The reason for the low gamma and brightness is the magic of OLED.
If you don’t know what you’re doing, just go with what you like best.
I’m playing with
Gamma 0.9
Brightness 50%
Contrast 75%
