So here i was investing in alts to have on each covenant, then i got slapped in the face with the news in ptr regarding all characters having the same campaign past 40 renown, regardless of covenant affiliation.
So should i look up a guide and just switch alts to their BIS covenant and call it a day, or do you think only one campaign path was made live in ptr for testing purposes while they continue developing the other alternates?
Its a good that you don’t need to have many chars to know the lore.

Regarding the question, don’t forget the gear and mounts. You cannot mogr gear or ride mounts of your old covenant if you will switch.
The campaigns will be the same, for 9.1 at least, and probably beyond. There might be slight differences or some extra dialogue per covenant, but no more than that. If you’re not hunting for small details, story-wise your covenant probably won’t matter in the foreseeable future.
Looks like a legionfall repeat: market on variety, realize it’s not sustainable for the dev process of blizz, try to look clever when explaining why 1 campaign for all, but you can’t still visit sanctums of you allies. I guess in the story the Jailer is not that big of a threat after all.

Really, they had a relatively good thing going with faction-specific questing. Not especially the antagonistic kind, but just seperate stories that created a bit of a different identity. That part even worked well in BfA and the two zones where they tried it in WoD. I have no idea why they insist on trying out new temporary ways to seperate our questing experiences.
If they were actively trying to get rid of the outdated race-based factions, I could understand that to some degree, but stuff like the order halls and the covenants obviously aren’t made to last, but were created to be forgotten 2 years later. That’s just dumb.
Really I will keep fallowing this! So much to learn here.
