I feel like the quest is broken, my character can’t go up/down and some of the points are spawned ‘deeper’ into coreway and can’t uses 2nd ability to clean them.
Later I tried using the ‘robot’ got disconnected and when I relogged I was spawned offshore and almost died to fatigue.

I just had exactly the same issue,
tried multiple times with same outcome
the world quest icon keep disappearing and reappearing on my map too

For some reason if fix itself after I approached it later and I could control the mech. Still, fells something is bugged there.
Press space to fly and then you can move down in to the Coreway.

This fixed it for me, the mech’s movement animation changed to flying and then i could use X to descend as normal.

Somebody posted on WoWhead that to get the bot to go up and down is to jump with the bot.
As soon as i jumped into the air i was able to go up and down.
But till that point in time my thought was that this was bugged. Rightfully so. It is bugged.
