Correlation between profile picture and perceived tone

I think many get judged by the character they post on.

Is it a retail or classic. what level is it, what faction, some go as far as checking armory or third party sites, depending on the discussion.

Only if it’s a human male paladin or a male night elf hunter.

Oh, and if it’s a female night elf, draenei or human in a sl*tmog, I automatically assume it’s a weird 50 years old man behind the keyboard.

No.

This, sure.

This i find interesting, you mean, that they are infact, creating something like a story or bias in their mind behind the avatar?

I think the other things come into play more than the avatar they have.

I try to treat each post individually regardless of who made it or what they’ve posted before.

People make presumptions based on all sorts of things though. That’s human nature.

Stop lying Punnyy, I know how you treat Retributor :smirk:

I admit, I did wonder once or twice how people perceive me through my main, because I sometimes tend to do that as well. How do I come across, lol?

I don’t tend to connect people themselves to the clichés, but I often connect the avatar image with the person writing and create an image of a personality in my mind.

It is pretty subjective in my opinion. Admittedly, when I am skimming through a thread, I am more likely to pay attention to posts made by Worgen, Tauren, Night Elf, or Undead characters, mostly because such characters bring up positive feelings for me and therefore I would read their tones as less combative. I cannot explain why, but I am sure I am not alone in that regard. Of course, I would do my best to treat each post equally, but the brain can be a weird thing.

However, there are exceptions. There are a number of folks who aren’t necessarily posting with my favorite races, but I recognize the names because I either see them often, or they generally had very good points and I would stop to consider their views.

Worth keeping in mind, that there are both conscious and subconscious thinking/biases at play here. Someone who takes less of a liking to vicious-looking characters could perceive mine to be unfriendly, and read my tone as such.

Yes I voice act Punyelf as Liadrin.
I am sure she has to be quite tough to handle reading all of this and stay polite.

Once in a while I get some flak when I get confused with Jito based on the avatar’s looks, but I can live with that.

ah you are not the jito’s evil twin?

Yep that’s how I imagine Puny and how she sounds like :+1: in my head cause it’s clearly lady Liadrin inspired mog.

Well somehow even on my Yola I thought jito and Red were related to each other like his or her brother or sister  because they have the same way of thinking.

I am actually pleased to see that not every post by Retributor is his agenda to push there is ‘Horde Bias’.

But denying the claim only fortifies the belief.

What I can say, to you and not him, cause that would be a huge leak…
So pls keep it a secret :smirk:

As a member of a group of very private insiders… I must confess there is a huge Horde bias, namely me and my fellow conspirators, we sacrifice a human paladin at 9:59 before each reset to force RNG gods in our favour, increase our drop chances for a week and manipulate writers to give us better story next patch.

Just please, do not tell that to him or all our efforts will be for nothing.

For the Horde!
