Corrupted Gear is terrible

We can hope. Though the nature of those effect alone makes them hard to balance, not just the numbers. I’m not envious of whoever shall have to deal with that problem.

op effects should never be RNG, we hated titanforged because of simple reasons and corrupted items are 100x worse example of the same reasons we hated titanforged for.

i don;t think corruption as it is deserves any kind of recognition, it’s not interesting, aside from a very few traits, just like azerite…

It does’t feel better than titanforging, it’s just failure.

I just wish blizzard decided to go with the easiest solution which would be to leave titanforging, cap it at 30 ilvl max, and give us a way to increase the ilvl of our gear to the max titanforge level relative to the base ilvl of that item.

And give sockets to blacksmithing, tertiary stats to inscription, and corruption effects could go to enchantment, while many of the abilities we lost even in legion, and that includes leggos, should be baseline, especially artifact abilities, while other lost abilities or new one should be added as new talent rows, which we should get 2 at this point…

And some modifications could become glyphs.

I think in a single-player or Diablo’esque game, I’d enjoy the Corruption system, too. Or rather, the poorly balanced implementation that we currently have.

Because the core problem is really the wide gap between the top-3 corruptions and the rest of them. If they were closer together, I’d feel more positively about the system. For example, I got a 470 item with rank 3 Infinity Stars in my weekly chest. I then joined a random heroic raid and did over 20% of my damage with Infinity Stars in a boss fight. That is additional damage, not damage I did instead of anything else. This is not all right. I didn’t even play very well (and didn’t enjoy Moonkin, but couldn’t fit it on my feral), but this lucky corruption roll compensated for that. A single item really shouldn’t do this much damage, and passively even.

It isn’t fair to other players who may go the whole expansion without ever getting an item like this. It may get them benched or not invited to M+ runs, solely for the reason that they weren’t lucky. These corruptions aren’t earned, they are randomly bestowed. I don’t blame raid leaders or key owners for choosing players with good corruptions, either, because it’s an obvious advantage. But it’s not good design for the “competitive” content areas in an MMO.

So my take on this is that the idea of the corruption system is interesting, fresh even, but the implementation is horrendous and immature.

Matter is not falling back, I supposed to be ahead but I can’t progress further because of timegate.

Maybe I’m oldschool but I kinda feel like they ruined the RPG aspect in BfA. It just doesn’t feel like a RPG anymore, it’s a RNG grind with unlimited powercreep and broken afk dps effects. I’d wish they would have focused on the classes (give us more talents in form of these Azerith pieces for example) instead of the gearing. It’s beyond crazy.

Sub runs out in two days and I’m glad that I haven’t preordered Shadowlands yet. Some friends are trying to convince to renew it but I just can’t, the gearing is some next level of awful.

Did he get benched from your heroic run? :stuck_out_tongue:

I must admit I agree with the OP. I think the Corruption system is good in theory but in practise it’s been absolutely horrifically implemented without a thought for pacing, progression or long term play. When I can do a random world quest in Zandalar, the opening end game content of this expansion, and receive a blue quality corrupted item that outperforms the gear I could get in Mythic level Ny’alotha something is drastically wrong with the system.

They could have very easily fixed this by not only tuning the corrupted traits a little more, but by also having the rank of said trait being made reliant on the content in which it was obtained. World quest rewards should ONLY drop specific traits that are only rank 1. Stuff like Infinite Stars should only begin to drop from Mythic+/Ny’alotha Normal runs and even then should only be rank 1, ranks 2 and 3 should be from Ny’alotha Heroic and Mythic respectively.

Not only would that keep players from being able to cheese their way into raid groups by the grace of RNGesus, it would actually keep the content of BFA well paced, and more crucially, keep the RPG aspect of the game alive and relevant. The guy who goes around batting down wasp nests and shooing off the odd hedge witch should NOT be getting the same kind of rewards as the person yanking the tentacles off of an old god and their lieutenants. To toss the town guard the same reward as the general simply demeans the general and makes his task pointless when he could simply get the same rewards the easier (see: lazier) way.

Literally everything ever wrong with gear has been rolled into one.   :joy:

Ye its cool, until you got benched.

But that is more a problem that has to do with playing in a guild that treats its members as disposable trash in an effort to pursue progression at all costs, rather than treating its members as close-knit friends and mates with whom you have an enjoyable and social experience together.

That’s a player and guild problem, not a problem with item design.

Worst part is all i am getting is LEECH! It’s legit worst than legion legendary during the release. At least we could rush for legendary cap and reroll

The max item level for the previous tier (EP) was 455 not 460.

shouldnt have complained about titanforging :joy:

It’s a player and guild problem, yes, but at the same time that problem is encouraged and exacerbated by both the item design and the designer’s philosophy when it comes to rewards.

i honestly hope that they will never going to do the same sheet show with this crap. We dont actualy need this. Period.

This is sad.

I’ve been part of two guilds that failed to go further, in vanilla.
The first one was mine, we failed to get enough members to raid and we were constantly losing members to higher raiding guilds, in the end all members just left.
The second one, was raiding 20 man ZG, but failed to pass the first boss in AQ 20 and again to get enough members to raid MC, so that one died as well.

Guilds have to keep clearing content, in order to keep their more hardcore members interested, or else they leave, to more successful guilds.

It’s the sad reality.
That’s why I don’t blame Guilds that take performance over the time that member has been in.

Unfortunately this is what the game design has brought in.
It’s the same situation in a casino.
Should the house reward a player for being a loyal customer over the lucky guy ?
That’s not how it works.
You just have to keep playing, untill you are lucky or run out of money.

Cheers.

I cleansed all mine on my priest.
Too much of a pain in the farter trying to heal when you’ve got mad ghosts of yourself and big eyeballs trying to attack you. What I lose in power I make up for in knowing my class.

Stupid set up
