What is up with being evil -corrupted- to boost character strength?
Why can’t players be good and also boost character strength?

This is not about being evil but about using something evil to fight evil.
It’s not that corruption is evil, it’s simply corrupting.
You gain crazy powers through using void infused gear. The void “breaks down” the barriers of reality, so through its influence you can do stuff you never thought possible. However in breaking down these barriers, you also invite some of the things these barriers kept out.
It’s not necessarily that our characters become evil, but they utilise tools that come with a steep price and a taboo, because there is a precedent that such powers are typically used for evil purposes.
The Void isn’t in itself evil, just a source of power. Shadow Priests, Void Elves, Affliction Warlocks etc all weaponize Void magic against their enemies. Like the Fel, it’s corrupting, but doesn’t necessarily mean you’re corrupted.
As for why, Wrathion has been studying his father/Old Gods/Void etc to find both a means to prevent Void corruption (hence the cloak) and potentially wield their powers against them (wanting to use Xal’atath to contain N’zoth, like Azshara).
Well, Heart of Azeroth is good, and it boosts our strength.
90% of the Legion Legendaries were “good” and boosted us…
The WoD legendary Ring or the MoP Cloak wasn’t Eeevil™ either…
Besides, what can’t kill you makes you… stranger
Hey, I don’t really think it’s that important anymore. Maybe 2-3 months more and corruptions and azerite gear will get GIMPED when the pre-patch rolls in the level/stat squish.
After all, they can’t have us go into Shadowlands with like 80% haste and LOSE ALL THAT strength gradually. No, we have to go in weak as newborn kitten so that we can scale up near-infinitely like we did in BFA (even though some people clung at least to their most useful Legion legendaries until they stopped working at 115 instead of switching them for gear with 2x more stats).
I think there should had been some subplot that the player character bodies are by now addicted to borrowed power
Well, from a certain point of view N’Zoth and the Old Gods technically won… the Heroes of Azeroth are now corrupt and rare to find someone whithout the purple-blueish glow swirling aroun his body after 120…
Even if the Cape built up your resistance, the pshichological scars of such terrible power are parmanent…
Would be nice to just for this once, show the consequences/long term effects of your actions on your character…
So far the only one is the parmnent ugly head-eye if you don’t cleanse the Gift of N’zoth with the benefit to understand Shath’Yar language 24/7
To say nothing of the scars of grinding the damn things
I think its now on par with that @&#% Apexis grind…
You mean the heart of azeroth and essences? Considering our characters are always progressing by being good, the idea of temptations of power by embracing nzoths corruption is a fantastic idea
Ah that one

Funny how one of the essences is called the Formless Void made from Void Droplet with forbidden Ny’alothe texts
Good work Hero… now you infused the Heart of Azeroth with the very thing you suposed to fight… *insert Magni’s epic facepalm *
I kill other players with corruption am i evil ?
Because apparently we needed a titan-forging replacement that is themed towards the patch.
I will leave that to the jury to decide
It’s not about being good or evil, it’s like having the willpower to not eat a tasty cake. You’re definitely evil though, the player character has killed thousands of animals, monsters and humanoid races.
I mean technically speaking if the player character were compared to anyone on earth they would be the single most deadly killer in human history, maybe there are some historical figures with more blood on their hands, but in your case you literally dealt every killing blow in person.
I think that the player characters are more akin to characters from the ancient mythologies instead
Good and evil are points of view, we use corruption to help our cause.
