Corruption could have worked

So many of you will remember the corruption system from season 4 bfa. It would have been fun if not for the gimmicky procc corruptions. If they just had the corruptions that increased a secondary by a percentage does anyone else think that would be fun again in the future these corruptions could be bought from a vendor.

i was playing way more casually in bfa but i found that mechanic really fun lol it was really an original idea that fit perfectly to the theme

For most classes those secondary buffs were in bfa s4 also the best.

It is with a lot of things/systems of the game. The issue usually was obtaining the items. Like we currently have with tiersets. When it takes 2 months in a 4.5 months season to get your setbonus, it is just slow. The corruption vendor took also months in that bfa season to show up in the game.

Im aware its not everyones cup of tea but I quite enjoyed the gimmicky nature, granted I did get lucky with them so thats probably why

That’s called a trinket.

Really crazy effects don’t work in WoW like they do in Diablo. There’s an expectation of balance in WoW.

no a trinket is on use the corruptions was a flat constant +3% get the facts right before you try to comment. Yes well as long as you can buy them from a vendor it would be great i think a system like this later in dragonflight would be cool so we could have some crazy stats and a fun end to this amazing expansion it has been so far. Mabye this could be like a shadowflame corruption instead i think that would be cool if they only use it for secondary stats that is. Too much of the shadowflame corruption would send you into a madness and you would lash out at friendly players that would be so cool if you ask me this effect could only happen in PVE/PVP not in the open world ofc

Trinkets vary from procs, on use, flat stats, to unique effects.

+x% to secondary stats adds nothing to the game except more power for the sake of it.

Some are passives.

true im not banking on something like this happening but it would definitley be a fun that is true would you enjoy a shadowflame corruption that would let you increase secondary stats by a percentage ?

Considering how little I enjoyed 8.3, so no, I wouldnt. I was never a fan of the corruption system, I know plenty loved it, while some hated it. I just think its too unbalanced to work properly. Would be better if they made trinkets do that instead, which they had in Siege of Orgrimmar.

idk it felt like we were always living the expansion’s theme , it’s hard to give the same effect with trinkets

it could have worked if they just let people have crazy fun withit.

0 limilits on it whatsoever - they should have let people had as much pieces as possible

it was last tier of expansion - they disabled coruptions after anyway

people could have felt like corrupted mini gods.

instead they limit the system and timegated it to the sky

thats why it didnt work

same was with legendaries

nothing was stopping them in legion from just removing all limits on leggo during last tier - they shoudl have let people wear even 1- of them if they wanted - and feel …well - legendary

instead- limits and timegating

you know why this season is so fun ? because with whatever you do you feel more and more powerfull

same should have been with those systems

last tier should be always all about crazy fun

**next season should be like this . we all know 11.0 will be another stat squish **

so just let people have rally crazy fun next season .

A toast to that want to have some secondary tweaking fun not had something like this for a while now

I loved corruptions.
Got Twilligt devastation r3 and Infinite Stars r3 early on.

I was top DPS as Vengeance DH most of the time, it was a blast.

When the vendor was added it was great. Very fun for a final season of the xpac.

My only gripe with it was that at start, the corruption effects where RNG and you couldn’t manually add them. So not only you were hunting for a bis item A but that bis item A also needed to have bis corruption effect B.

RNG on top of RNG with a slice of RNG pie sprinkled with RNG. :pie:

Yes the rng factor was later fixed with the vendor. I think if they do something like that again they can learn from the bad and implement the good it may not happen again but if they got it right with a few tweaks i think all the player base would have had fun with it

It would have been fun if it wasn’t RNG layered on RNG for so long. Desperately hoping to drop that one corruption that the guides said was optimal for your spec? Well, that was… not very fun.

Systems where random person A gets stuff months ahead of random person B despite similar investment tend to generate player disgruntlement.

Got better with the vendor. Didn’t need the vendor rotation panicking people to try to get their currency sorted or lose the chance for a month.

Why are we talking about this 3 years later? :joy_cat:
