i made a similar topic few weeks back and i will probably repeat my self on some points again. But right now i want to try and talk about the general gameplay impact of the system.
- General feedback of the system based on what ive seen so far - In a way corrupted items are better game design option than titanforging considering the removed master loot. (wich is still the worst decision ever made to the game imo)
We can actually share loot and help our raid memebers easyer when the ilvl restriction is easyer to be dealt with. However it replaced a RNG system that had only one value people were concerned with (ilvl boost) with a multiple layer of RNG system with absolute no control over any of them. Yes we have a number of corrupted items that we will get each week for sure, but thats only covers some of the first layer of the system’s RNG. Wich corrupted effect we get and what rank is it… its a dice roll. 80% of the corrupted effects are bad for most of the classes. And that leads to my next point. - The missing balance of the corruption effects is one of the main reason this whole thing is a problem. However i understand that its not easy where there are classes that scale better with one secondary stat stacking while others dont. Fire mages scale exelent with mastery %/proc items, warlocks with haste etc etc. There are classes like demon hunters that has naturaly high PPM on effects like Infinite Stars and other items like trinkets (coral/inkpod etc) wich makes them even better for them compared to other classes. The decision to make 2 of the corruption effects based on a HP pools of the characters was a mistake that lead to nerfing echoing void to to ground where its litteraly unusable now. (and it wont be ever viable for its corruption cost in the future).
Twilight’s nerf was very good decision and kept it very strong and fun to play with while limited its potential in very big aoe pulls.
I would suggest to reduce the nerf of echoing void by 25% or reduce its corruption cost, or just make dmg based on characters attack power/vers like other effects like gushing wound. - Ofcourse a balance tweaks will allways be good. But i personaly think a more general gameplay oriented decision will be a better solution and overall better future for the game. Im talking about removing the RNG elements that somehow turned WOW into a ARPG like Diablo. Where we clear same type of content over and over again untill we get the item we need in order to progress our character and enjoy the game.
Funny… even Diablo 3 fixed that problem with giving free item sets and boosting legendary item drops so ppl can fast and easy assemble their desired set and start playing effectively from the start. While WoW… a game thats has a completely different design as a MMO… still struggles with this problem.
Anyway… PLEASE replace the RNG system with a progression one. Maybe its late for BFA, but please fix this in Shadowlands. We all know that RNG procs are very exiting and keep us replaying the game. BUT please keep that for the cosmetic aspect of the game. Mounts, transmogs and other cool things that are also great part of WoW. Add more items like Taessalach sword or Argus scythe.
As for 8.3 BFA, i would love to get a currency similar to the one we had for legion legendaries, available from all types of content - raid bosses, dungeon bosses, world quests, emisarries, scraping/desencahnging corrupted gear etc… and add a VENDOR like the tournament realm one, with scrolls with corruption so we can use that currency to buy the desired corruption effects.
You want us to keep us playing more and pay our subs - I can assure you, people will play and enjoy even more the game if they know they will be rewarded for the content they are doing. Im not asking for a free handouts…make it so we can buy only 1 rank 3 corruption effect a week… or in 2 weeks. But damn it will worth the grind if i know i will be able to buy that scroll in 2 weeks.
Right now its a diceroll and 99% of the time you are slapped in the face. Even if u play the game 12 hours/day. Ofc luck is luck… i cant complain personaly but friends of mine still have not seen infinite star item after doing every possible content so far each week. I have done over 70 timed 15+ m+ runs… and so far has never had a corrupted item dropped for me. And seen like 6-7 drop for my group.
This is waaay too low chance.
We had similar problem with legion legendaries… and adding the vendor at the end of the expansion fixed the problem. Aside from that, there was a bad luck protection throuout the whole expansion. All the things that FIXED the problem were there… why not use it again.
We have War resourses right now… that we dont need at all. Maybe use them to send some troups on a mission that cost 5k resourses or something at the mission table once a week… for a good chunk of the currency. This way again world quests for war resourses … and the currently worthless Emisaries that rewards war resources can see some value. - Its too late now but corruption effects should have never be available in rated PVP. No point of disabling corruption now without reseting the whole season. PVP is one of the biggest parts of WoW and current season is broken beyond repair. The only way to make things better is again… adding a progression system like the one ive talked about above, so people can get their corruption effects and be competitive in rated pvp.
- With the increase of resistance we get each week… things will get even crazy-er but… hell with it. Lets all have some unbalanced fun before the end of the expnasion.
TLDR: Make us feel happy and rewarded for the time we play the game, instead of feeling misserble and unlucky 90% of the same time we invest in the game. Or som like that
