Corruption system is garbage

Corruption system is way worse than Titan/Warforging. They took what was the worst thing out of Azerite armor system and implemented that into Corruption system.

I like the idea of while getting more power, you get extra annoying effects like slow, damage zones etc. I think that is a great implementation, well done.

But the downside of the system is far worse than anything positive.

The difference of “good” and “bad” corruption types is mindblowing (just like the early Azerite armor system, one or two good traits, rest total garbage). That are things like Infinite Stars, Void Ritual, Mindflay etc that is just crazy good on almost all classes, but on the other end there is just useless undertuned corruption types that put you SEVERLY behind competitively in terms of performance in raids or m+.

They did the EXACTLY same mistake as they did with Azerite armor. Implemented too many, impossible to balance corruption types and just shipped the patch as it is.

I know countless of players that just been unlucky (including me) and not getting the “mediocore” or better corruption types simply because that’s how the dice was rolled. But that dice roll decides how much damage or how well you can do on almost all types of gameplay, both PvE and PvP.

Why the hell do damage dealers get corruption types like “You get 12% Avoidance of your total haste”. That doesn’t make any sense. Getting an item like that is like a kick in the jewels, in comparison what actually can roll out (like Infinite Stars or Mindflay)

How to fix this? Remove half or more of the corruption types. Tune a bit here and there. And viola. You got a half decent system, way better than before.

Ion Hazzikostas, the game director of World of Warcraft, from said this in an interview on Warcraft Radio: “Overall they’ve happy with how corruption is playing out. There were some tuning issues.”

That is plain ignorance. The system is in total shambles. Players don’t like it. Stop telling yourself and everyone around that they do. Yet another proof that Blizzard is out of touch with the playerbase.

To me it feels like they want you to stop play the game that they created.

This is an annoyance of mine too. I don’t have any corruptions that are specific to a healing spec, and yet I have 3 pairs of dps pants, and a nice avoidance one.

But on the whole it is just another stark reminder that the devs have completely failed to listen and understand the community’s concerns about titanforging. Rather than reducing RNG, they’ve amped it up until dps players who haven’t lucked a Stars corruption are complaining about being benched for being bottom of the meters.

Up sides? Class balance is now irrelevant. He who has Stars and other lucy corruptions tops the meter, regardless of class.

I agree with OP.

Ion, together with the dev team, are delusional in regards to what the players would love and what they would hate.

How ironic that Grand Delusions is one of the corruption efects, yet they are so fitting for our wow team.

You said this in another post, that corruption system is like the azerite system and i thought it was the dumbest thing i ever read on this forum, but your argument now for this similarity is because both have “good” and “bad” traits/corruptions?

Also the “bad” corruptions are usually used as filler because they have a small corruption value, you may one to keep one of those in bags if you use Heart of Darkness in case one of your cloak upgrades gets you below 25.

Anyway, just cause some numbers aren’t as balanced as they should be it doesn’t mean the whole system is garbage.

it’s as if titanforging and azerite traits had a kid, but the mom didn’t stop drinking and smoking while pregnant, and the offspring is the corruption system.

Talking about ignorance. Just because you don’t like it, doesn’t mean no one else likes it. People like you really should stop trying to speak for everyone else.

I’m sure someone must like it, as much as someone somewhere must like eating crap and getting kicked in the balls, it does not mean it is a good system or that the majority of the playerbase doesn’t dislike it.

I’m finding it pretty entertaining but I must admit I’m tanking currently, I can rack up about 60-70 corruption and churn out a lot more dps but periodically get reduced to around half hp which is sustainable as druid, helps a lot in encounters where you can move.

In the last raid tier I pretty much play with no corruption, it makes my life easier and my job is to minimize the damage so it’s not really needed for me. Sucks spending 80k on some boots with a decent affix, I said it would happen before I bought it and like 50% of my epic loots has been boots since lol.

It’s just more luck based loot, it really pushes to emphasise the power of the weekly chest as it will have a solid corruption and good ilvl, overall I’m happy with the change but feel PvP should have an equivilant, the times in which you obtain either set is large and it would be nice to have a strong alternative source of corruption gear outside of raid/dungeon, maybe even pvp corruptions (like forcing corruption on enemies).

I like the creativity with drops, it’s like the old system on steroids and it’s a nice change even if just for a patch.
Would I want it to stay?

I like the concept that certain armours grant you abilities even if there is a trade off, I think your standard style gear should still remain competitive too and this does in a way, it takes more skill to dodge corruption effects and perform strong damage because there is a risk, if you get stunned or in a tight spot you are going to take much more damage, it is a fair trade off and takes skill, memory and on spot reaction to mitigate.
So yes, if it was balanced (like currently for me I’ll mix and match corruption or not use depending on content now) but I would also like to see other unique effect like this too, it’s like the same principles behind everyones favourite spell; aspect of the pact, you get a positive with a big negative in certain situations but very rewarding when you use it to full.

I see what you mean with the drops, that’s just cruel drops that could be fixed, they kinda fixed that compared to the old raids, now we get personal loot which you can have roll to your choice of spec. 12% avoidance of your total haste, if you stacked that up with other item and a haste buff you could probably get around 15-20% avoidance, that’s very situational but has possibilities.

Ofcourse, only the opinions of people with a superiority complex, such as yourself, is what counts. Toxic people like you are best to ignore.

I’m afraid you’re projecting, you say i have a superiority complex and that i’m toxic, just because I disagree with you, and knowing nothing else about me.
feel free to ignore people with different opinions if you are not interested in personal growth.

That’s quite hilarious coming from someone who compares other people’s opinions to eating crap or get kicked in the balls. Nice personal growth right there.

Corruption IS a horrible system. And honestly; how it got released is both amazing (the stupid kind) as well as truly scary.

Grasping at straws?
That’s not what Kayleen was doing at all.

All that was said was that there are people who will like anything; things that the vast majority of people wouldn’t even consider ‘normal’, let alone ‘likeable’.
So some people liking Corruption doesn’t mean it’s a good system. Because clearly; it’s not.

And who are you to decide your opinion is worth more than others? I have no problem with anyone not liking it, I do have a problem with people trying to talk for others. But ofcourse, only people such as yourself can decide what is good and what isn’t.

I was simpy pointing out to you to the implied meaning of what Pincode said by “all players” meaning “most players” an obvious hyperbole, clearly explaining to you an hyperbole using a metaphor was not a wise choice by my part, i should have used some simpler terms.

I don’t decide that. The majority does.

You’re seeing things that aren’t there. That’s a bad personality trait, my friend.

I didn’t realise you asked everyone that plays this game, my mistake.

Don’t be silly, little green buddy.
Stop grasping at straws. Doesn’t suit you.

it’s not his or mine fault you need someone to point out to you that the overwhelming majority of the community’s opinion on the corruption system as it has been implemented is negative.
sure someone likes it, it does not make it popular ( just like eating poo or getting kicked in the balls)

EDIT:
disclaimer: im using a metaphor there, don’t take me literally

Apparently you know what the majority thinks and when I point that out, I’m grasping at straws. Welcome to the WoW forums I guess. Negative people who write on forums are the “overwhelming majority” now.
