This is how Blizzard should have handled corruption.
When you cleanse a corrupted item, you are given an amount of a currency that corresponds to the level that was cleansed.
This currency can then be used to purchase new corruptions, that can be placed on an item, much like an enchantment.
You can not purchase an existing corruption that is on your gear, But you can have one upgraded to a higher level, much like Benthic gear.
They will probably drop a vendor like one month before the next expansion. Like they did for Legendaries.

Was in a dungeon with a toxic DH who had tied 3 TD & Echoes of Void… he was so arrogant and when I pointed out that his 3 top spells were corruption and essence he had no response. People think they are god like because of it and this is where I think Blizzard doesn’t help good players to increase their dps. Because we already do enough… shame but you just gotta prove that corruption isn’t a skill… speak with your numbers and not with RNG procs. Hopefully one day you’ll get the one you really need <3
huh…and Im annoyed that I cant level up my alts without getting WQ gear rewards chock full of corruption that seems to kill them. Then I cant get rid of it without doing the patch content (which I hate).
Seems like you really cant please everybody!
Or just use Echoes of Nyalotha as it’s useless on my main
