So today I did scarlet monastery graveyard and library with one group. Later today I joined another group for Armory and Cathedral. When I tried entering armory, the game said that I am already locked into scarlet monastery. For some reason the 4 scarlet monastery dungeons are counted as 1 dungeon in lockouts, but I’m still left wondering why I can’t enter because none of the bosses in arm/cath have been killed on my id. In wotlk classic (and in retail at least several years ago) when I joined a group for a raid, for example, when I entered the instance portal I got inside and the game said x/x bosses killed, if I stay I will be locked with this id with a 1 minute timer. Since none of the bosses in armory or cath have been killed on my id why can’t I enter the dungeon? Why doesn’t it send the same kind of message to the other players, something like “4/8 bosses defeated. If you stay you will be locked with this id”. Are dungeon and raid lockouts somehow different? and if they are, how?
Edit: Does that also mean that if I do any dungeon in hc and we kill 1 boss and someone leaves I’m not able to get a replacement because we are already locked?
Would also like to add that the 1 per day lockouts for hc dungeons is stupid in my opinion and I can’t understand why they added that. I’m leveling only with dungeons, and it’s annoying that I can only play an hour or 2 a day. Feels like i’m being punished for playing too much.
They intentionally added a 1 day lockout to dungeons to prevent levelling with only dungeons. Hardcore is meant to be difficult and not easy levelled through only dungeons.
DUNGEONS ON THE CLOCK
All dungeons have at least a 24-hour lockout timer for players below level 60.
One of the most important aspects of the WoW Classic Hardcore realms is engaging in adventures in the outside world with other players. Creating random and serendipitous interactions is a core aspect of the original release of World of Warcraft, and spending most of your leveling time in dungeons is counter in spirit to what Hardcore is about. We do recognize that there may be a desire to run a dungeon while leveling multiple times, such as to finish a quest or get an important piece of loot. As a result, we’ve added a 24-hour timer to almost all dungeons for players until they hit level 60. By extension, this also means that level 60 players may never enter lower-level dungeons with players below level 60 for any reason.
Additionally, we’ve carried over the group experience restrictions from Season of Mastery—meaning that players that are significantly higher level than the creatures in a given dungeon will cause those creatures to grant trivial experience to the other members of the group. Higher-level characters “power-leveling” lower-level characters are not something that we feel is appropriate for WoW Classic Hardcore.
Edit: Extra note, due booster abuse if the level disparity is too high the XP gain is nullified.
If the 1 day lockout to dungeons is to prevent levelling with only dungeons, I find it kind of strange way to approach it, because I still have levelled with mostly dungeons with ease, it just reduces the amount I can play 1 char per day. They could have just made it so you can clear every dungeon only once before 60 which would have prevented that completely.
Some dungeons one could be unlucky with quest drops. This is to enable players to return to dungeons the next day and farm the quests again.
There are also dungeon item sets for those who want to specifically grind those, or certain powerful items that can carry them for many levels. For example… The DM int ring.
I do believe you need to be the leader of the group and be the first to enter the dungeon for that ID to be the one for that group, if you joined a group and someone entered before you, that would likely have generated a new ID for that player.
I have joined a Lib/arms run with the GY cleared & Houndmaster dead, upon entering Lib I got that message and an option to accept or leave.
The dungeon limit was mainly to prevent spamming, it is possible to level doing only 1 dungeon per day but the majority will not wait for that and will go out into the world thus making the change fairly successful.
It works stupid, me and my team just did BRD, we had a reset so we went out, tried to go in again, everyone got warning run wasn’t reset, I as the leader got locked INSTANTLY, preventing me from playing with them.
No warning, no nothing, instant lock for another 24 hours!!!
I am super upset about it, not cool at all, some might say even pointless at level 50+ where boosts dont even exist!
To prevent dungeon spamming in spellcleave or meleecleave which is much faster and easier then open world levelling. And also to prevent dungeon boosting (they couldn’t add anti-snare changes to HC because it can kill ordinary players in some situations, so they fixed boosting other way).
You will be able, if new player wasn’t locked in this instance before.
Idk, i just tested it with my 40+ character in SW stockade, killed 1 mob and i haven’t been locked (no SW stockade in “raid info” tab), maybe some instances have some triggers to lock you even if you haven’t killed boss, maybe it is because of starting some event or rare boss spawn, idk. (for example in ToGC in WOTLK you are locked after starting 1st boss even without killing him, and in vanilla naxx after looting frozen rune)
