Looking at the Covenant abilities I must say rogues got short end of the stick.
The Kirian ability has the biggest potential damage-wise, but its usability is limited if you are playing specs that give you more then one combo points with finishers. With long CD.
The Venthyr has improved posion ability and doesn’t even count as Bleed effect.
Necrolord has the alright one - ranged attack for chance downs and for fights that require disengaging from melee. But overall needs to be squeezed in rotation with pretty low energy cost.
As for Fae land it’s pure PvP talent.
I would love to see more rotation in tune skills or even finishers or buffs to help out with fighting style instead of squeezing the abilities in.
What are your thoughts about CA? What would you change.
the night fae is very powerful on paper in pve, assuming you’re using the master assassin legendary. gives you 15s of 100% crit in the opener. open with sepsis->do stuff for 5s->vanish->do stuff for 5s->sepsis vanish->do stuff for 5s. it seems very dependent on either master assassin or deathly shadows though. overall seems like a fun and cool ability, but very restrictive.
the venthyr one is nothing. it is ambush with a passive poison that lasts for 5 minutes attached. it may very well end up being powerful, but gameplay-wise it’s terrible.
kyrian sounds powerful, but quite clunky, particularly on assa and outlaw. the idea of punishing me for getting more combo points is not a good one imo.
necrolord also sounds powerful, but i don’t like having powerful ranged abilities, and i don’t like how often you’ll be pressing it. it seems like it really warps the rotation in a big way, whereas i’d prefer something that empowers it, like sepsis.
so, one fun but restrictive. one that is just nothing. one clunky and awkward. one that warps the class. i’m not overly happy with them.
I decided to go venthyr/necro before those abilities were even announced. No way in hell I pick that hippie covenant or the 4th one whatever it was called.
Yes, pretty much as stated it’s hard to it in practice, even though it sounds nice on paper.
Nothing new added here, but as said it still needs to find in place for rotation, which for rogues isnt pleasant to break from their own rotation.
Yes, you are right it does play alright in assassin and sub as 2nd opener, but then again is that so big and great? Also choosing that covenant ability almost always forces you to choose the legendary to go with the damage buff.
The CA itself pretty underwhelming, while others have much more flavor to it.
Are you saying that it doesn’t actually give the benefits of a true 7 point finisher? If so that’s really disappointing, like truly disappointing… like what is the point of it disappointing.
I understand it would make it easier to balance but god damn for a combo point system play style it should really feed into it more.
