During this patch I guess. Which do you think most people will join?
Hard to say really,i think most people look at the strength of each one of them,and what it brings to them,as per usual,but then after that they look at the story/zone/ambiance around it,while others just dont care and go for whats the prettiest 
cant really tell,but i have a feeling Maldraxus isnt the top
I’m taking my warrior there, knowing its not the best him, but it feels the best and that’s what matters most for me, plus the transmog

I think Night Fae will be the most popular right now. They are BiS for Hunters and thematically suit Druids. BiS for M+ Warriors and a decent pick for Ret Paladin. Druid, Warrior, Paladin and Hunters are the most played classes in the game.
It will probably be the first to get nerfed as well.

I did see a lot of soulshapes running around orbios today, so you might be right.

If you’re a bloodelf, then go Venthyr or Kyrian!
If you’re a Nightborne, then go Venthyr!
If you’re any race of the horde then go straight to Maldraxxes! Because it represents Blood and thunder i.e. warfare theme!! ( Except for foxes and some flower loving fugly taurens can join the Night far )

While for classes!
Death Knight! For Maldraxxes!
Deamon hunter for either Maldraxxes or Venthyr!
Warrior horde, Maldraxxes!

Since power is a part of the covenant, being most or least popular is kind of redundant. A lot of people just choose their covenant based on the ability and not the covenant itself.
So to answer your question, whichever covenant is more OP for more classes, gets to be the most popular one.
Well if people want to choose there covenant to be pro go for it 
I’m choosing mine based on what feel right for me and they won’t be moved once there, they’ll stay there and be happy.

Swap Kyrian and Necrolords.
For me Night Fae is at the bottom but for most people it seems to be Venthyr/Fae
Kyrian Pelagos got a huge nerf recently, night fae has overtaken it for warriors who prefer m+
I’ll go for Necrolords. Cuz I’m playing Shadow Priest, so in my opinion it’s suit’s me the best 
But I haven’t go thru all the content yet. Had the most fun in Maldraxxes for now, Bastion and the 3th content wasn’t that that much fun for me… Still need to go thru the last content ( don’t know what is it called ), then we shall see 
My Priest is Necrolord - I love the area, the theme and the whole atmosphere
My Hunter is Night Fae - Ardenweald is magical…and I love all the pretties you can buy with rep and such
