CPU fan sounds like a JET in BASTION

Anyone else’s CPU fan sound like a jet in bastion

I got i7-6850k with a corsair hydro h100x and for some reason it goes mental in bastion, no where else in game

Check addons first. And task manager.

Sounds like it needs a good clean or you need to buy a good cooler/fan.

Dirty fans have crap on the leading edge and make lots of noise.

I have an i5 7500 and a gtx 1050 and it doesnt do any sound at all in bastion. Sounds like your PC is too good for the game

Friend of mine had problem in bastion, where it would randomly freeze his whole pc, requiring hard reset cuz nothing else worked. It happended multiple times, but only in bastion.

Today he swaped to directx 11 and it seems to be working so far

i7 4790k (Noctua NH-D15 cooler) with GTX 980 and going fine. No temperature, performance or fan speed spikes.

its brand new :frowning: and only happens in one zone

Being brand new doesn’t make it fully functional. It could be defect out of the box. I’ve had to switch 3 GPUs due to defects.

It could also be that you don’t have the thermal paste applied properly.

There’s your problem. Go get any Ryzen and the issue will be no more.

fixed it :), also I was saying brand new in regards to the dust in the fans.

get speccy and check your CPU temp, if it’s not critical, switch the fan profile to silent, try again and see if the CPU temp is still within acceptable range.

70 c is not a problem, however, the cooling will go crazy once you get near it

offtopic but why did you buy a 5 year old “brand new” CPU? Unless you paid 30-40 eur for it

Bastion & Ardenweald must be quite demanding indeed on older GPUs & CPUs with all the pretty particles & mist around.

But your CPU should run fine without any issues in these zones.

That’s because Bastion is meant for flying. Your PC is trying to take off.

Your PC is way better than mine & mine is humming peacefully, turn your settings down. But first check task manager etc

Bastion sends my GPU temp sky high with ray tracing on max, the rest of the expac doesn’t seem to get things quite so toasty. Never seen any particular peaks with my CPU though.

Bastion is just stunning! It’s worth the higher heat output.

have not really noticed anything on my Geforce RTX 3090 its the only part i changed recently in my Acer Predator Orion 9000

So you have loud fans… if the CPU temp is below 80 then there’s nothing to even talk about.

Change in cooling paste perhaps? Or replace the fans with silent ones?

Just tossing ideas.

Currently using 4th gen i5 with really old stock fan. Seems fine to me.

I’ve read about people having problems with this AIO specifically on PC hardware forums, might have to check if there’s anything blocking the liquid flow anywhere in the loop, monitor your CPU temp and see if it reaches very high temps, if it does it’s highly likely it’s the AIO cooler.

Maybe try dismounting the radiator and fans from the PC ( make sure to remember where the fans plug into the motherboad ), you could also take off the fans if possible and then you can try shaking the radiator very thoroughly with liquid inside so it could potentially get rid of any stuck particles inside, I’d use regular water for the shaking and draining then distilled water when you’re ready to use the PC again. If you’re not comfortable doing those things you can always ask a computer hardware store for tips and ask them what could be the problem in this case, maybe you still have warantee on the AIO?
