Crackling Jade Lightning is a pathetic spell. Give it something new

I know it. You know it. That guy’s grandma knows it.
CJL is a terrible spell.
It’s channeled, it tickles for next to no damage, and it does barely anything else. :eggplant:

Here are a handful of ideas to make CJL good or interesting. Of course, I don’t intend for these ideas to all be implemented at once, these are just scattered thoughts:

  • Make it usable while moving
  • Make each tick trigger Gusts of Mists on nearby allies
  • Make each tick reduce the cooldown of Thunder Focus Tea
  • If you successfully complete a full channel, electrocute the target. This would apply a 3 seconds DoT effect, ticking every second for decent damage.
  • Make every tick bump the target backward
  • The target is slowed for the duration of the channel
  • Successfully completing a channel turns your next CJL into an instant cast ability that deals the damage of a fully channeled CJL instantly.

There are countless ways to make this bland spell more interesting.
Feel free to contribute and suggest ideas of your own.

Tbh I prefer completely new range spell for monk over that. From start that spell annoyed me - its like how this fits into monk theme?

It fits into Sith theme if you buy the red glyph from ah ^^

Yeah, not a fan of the spell either, monk could throw shurikens but then sub rogue has that.

Yeah okay, fair enough.
Then again, what do you suggest as replacement?

I agree that CJL is super clunky spell, however all of your proposals are pretty much: let’s integrate clunky spell with other spells. How will that improve anything?

Spell itself should be redesigned. Let’s see, the purpose of that specific ability is pretty much to pull flying or to los pull npc’s.

Ok, to make it insta-cast dot which is cast-able while moving is obvious way to go. To avoid spell becoming part of rotation it should be on 15seconds cd. Something like heroic throw of warriors just magical. Chi burn or whatever.

Also to keep someone in combat in pvp.

Indeed it is, thank you for pointing that out.

High level Mistweavers also channel it for half a second to keep Mystic Touch applied to enemy targets, but that’s pretty tedious to do.
