Hi Blizz,
"" I am a beta tester but it seems the same problem persists on the PTR so I am replicating this post here that I posted in the BETA forums for those folks that may have the same problem. ""
Ever since your latest patch iteration the game for me is essentially unplayable.
Interestingly, I can run around whatever zone I am in, kill mobs, loot stuff, do quest things, change in game settings that don’t require a restart and all those lovely things, but as soon as I try and re-zone by hearthing or as soon as an ingame cinematic happens or anything that entails a loading screen occurs, even when logging out the game crashes on me.
I am then faced with your innocuous Blizzard Report box with its fashionable yellow chevron and great green T icon appearing on screen asking me to describe what it is exactly that I was doing when the game crashed.
Now I am sure whichever entry level support engineer tasked with filtering the reports, or basic AI system that has been in development for many years can attest to, it is not really that riveting to get the same report from the same Blizzard client ID with the same description over and over again.
The latest report ID: B720D1E0-1D13-4103-ABC5-FF04D7846C63 will attest to the facts.
To address my constant lack of testing capability with the crashing issues, I performed the following actions:
- Removed any and all beta addons, and reset the Wow User Interface by deleting the WTF, Interface and Cache directories so that they can be re-written afresh on a new game launch and ran the /console cvar_default to completely negate any outside or user configuration that may influence the performance of the game.
- Ran the MTR tools available on my MAC and the resultant packet loss was negligible as I am connected with Ethernet
- Reset my router, flushed the DNS settings both locally and on the router and even plugged the cable into a different port on the router to be sure.
- Finally I completely deleted the installation I had, downloaded a fresh installation of BFA some 65GB+ and then the Patch for the expansion on top of that some 19GB+ and re-installed the entire caboodle in a default state in a fresh location with no taint from the previous installation possible.
Even after following these methodical, onerous and may I say somewhat tedious tasks to the letter I am still being haunted by the perpetual crashes brought about by the latest patch.
So please Mr Blizz, I would love to continue testing the Beta and providing the valuable feedback you guys no doubt spend hours being entertained by, by way of riposte could you perhaps consider that maybe just maybe the issue is with your current code set and when you intend to hotfix which will no doubt solve the issue
I thank you
