Crashes at loading any character

Hi,

This morning after patching, I logged into my character and checked out the UI. Went to Firelands to get disappointed by no-mount drops again and as I engaged the fire bird boss, the game crashed with an error about “memory cannot be written”. Since then, I can start the game and get to the character selection. Every single character I try to log on to makes the game crash at the end of the loading bar without any errors.

Things I have tried:

  • Repair game files (oops, something broke, try again)
  • Reinstall WoW
  • Update Windows
  • Update drivers
  • Restart PC (several times)

I’m not sure what else is needed.

I have the same issue and I have seen several other Posts about this issue and it was apperantly an issue on Beta aswell and nobody ever recieved any feedback on how to fix this so we have nothing else to do here on our end.
I have also tested my account on my friends PC and it is not working so it is legit Account and Blizzard issue which locked me from any playtime today and who knows when or will it ever be fixed.

But you know sub is still going so whatever for them

I have the same issue. It worked fine 1 hour ago so i preordered DF heroic edition. But when i just bought it it crashed?

Yeah but there is no solution at all , even if you write the Ticket and even if they respond to you in “24 Hours” it will be basic wall of text of things I already tried to do from Reinstalling to deleting WTF Cache etc and probably won´t work tomorrow either and so on.

So what do we do then?

Nothing much , write the Ticket and let the wasting time game begin and also spam here on forum every now and then so maybe somebody is working and reading something here while people cannot even play the game .

I have the same thing and I actually recreated this error to the letter.
Did exactly what OP did.
Went to Firelands and engaged Alysrazor. After mister Staghelm delivers some stellar RP, the game crashes to the desktop with that error.

Before all this, I could play fine. I’ve played a few hours this morning with no issues.

I have the same issue.

Game was working fine. I went to make dinner, 1 hour later when I log in again game crashes at the end of every loading screen when I try to log on to a character.

Before first crash i changed sound output before logging in but this setting did not change anything

Have the same issue just hope this somehow gets resolved

Have exactly the same issue. I hope this gets patched or something soon…

Same issue here, tried reinstall, repair, remove wtf, interface, cache folder, updated drivers and windows, right now I don’t have access any other PC but next week I will so I can try if its a specific hardware issue or an account issue, but hope it will resolved that time.

It might help the developers to figure out:

What I did before the crashes started:

  • I played ages ago so I pushed the Update button and started downloading 80GB worth of stuff.

  • At 10-15 GB downloaded the Play button became active so I started the game. It started and I could login in to one of my character without any issue.

  • I wanted to try out the new UI Edit so I disabled all my addons and started configure my UI.

  • My friend sent me a UI share code to give me a good basic to start but it doesn’t worked. Every UI element except the action bars went to the top left corner.

  • So I selected the modern preset and started editing. After 15 minutes I saved and tried to find the Party frame as Raid frame setting and I noticed the hole Options menu was bugged - wrong background color, and every checkbox missing.

  • After this I noticed the cast bar only a text no bar so I figured it because of the partial downloading so I exited the game.

  • I wanted to wait for the whole game to download but after exit it didn’t started because the WOW still running in the background so I used the Task Manager to kill the task and the update started.

  • I waited at least 20 min to finish the download and then started the game but now every char on every realm crashes the game after the progress bar at the entering screen finishes

Having the same issue and I created a thread in german here:

Sadly none of the things we tried worked either. One of the players that commented my thread tried it on his GFs PC with different account. Every account except his worked. So it definitely is a problem on Blizzards side. Let’s hope for a word from them…

I’ve got the same issue.

Played around with my UI a lot last night - perhaps some of the settings there are making things go janky?

I even tried to go into the Windows Event Log to see any specific errors since the crash doesn’t really produce one and I couldn’t find any.

Its actually insane that you cant do sh!t about it, they dont even respond or care in general. Payed for the addon, for the sub and as reward you get this.

Honestly the support, via ticket or forum has never been as bad as in the last couple years. Horrible

Seems to work. Yet that means you will have to redo all keybinds, all addons etc. Everytime you log in. My lord. But at least we can login
