So you gain power gradually to overcome the challenges and goals you set yourself for the tier.

You get 90 of each crest a week.

Yeah, it feels very low and constraining in the 1st week. I spent 60 runed crests on upgrading 2 trinkets to 4/6 heroic, and 60 gilded crests on a crafted 1-hander. I’m saving the rest for next week to min-max for the long term.

It’s still worth doing lots of M+ this week though to get heroic loot, rating, more vault slots, and practice on mechanics.

I think of it more like the first week my power gains come from the actual items themselves. Going to 649-655 from 639~ on all slots from m+ without even spending crests is a huge boost.

Yeah, true. Getting heroic item drops from +6 keys already is huge!

i cannot upgrade the gear that i have got… was very unlucky… and people start to decline me since luckier guys have higher ilvl… so olimiting crests is nice. limit the gilded ones but the rest leave them alone

No, people are declining you because of score too. You’re just cherrypicking a couple of dungeons and not investing a bit of time to up your score.

You’ve also done 8 dungeons in total and have 2 new items equipped, thats about right and not unlucky at all.

If you want a suggestoin: Rating. That is the point.

If you fall behind the “average” of the playerbase you will have more and more trouble finding a group. And it will take more and more effort to climb the rating ladder.

So I suggest you keep pushing rating. Otherwise you will be back here in 1 month complaining that “you spend 40 min waiting in LFG” with 1000 rating less than every other DPS out there.

Is it frustrating ? YES. But atleast if you choose not to climb a bit of rating now, you know the cost of not doing so.

EDIT: Did not have to wait 1 month. He is already complaining…

I really hope the cap increase per week was greater than 90. You reach the cap too fast.

It would not change a thing.

The 90 crest cap is chosen because of what you can do with 90 crests. I dont have the exact numbers, but say that with 90 crests you can craft 1 item, or upgrade 1 item from Hero 1/6 to Hero 6/6.

What blizzard wants to do is limit you to 1 crafted item per week, OR, 1 6/6 Hero per week.

If you double the cap to 180… then the cost of crafted items/upgrades will also double. So you will be in the exact situation that you are now.

With the exeption that if you dont double the ammount of crests droped per dungeon, you will have to farm twice as many dungeons. Which is what happened in S1. Where you needed something like 12 dungeons (timed) to get enough crests to craft 1 item. Which was a bit excessive IMO.

And they changed that. Such that you dont have to spend a whole week of playtime to get the required currency to upgrade 1 item. At the cost of hitting the cap much sonner.

Its a price I am willing to pay IMO.

I honestly hate there being a cap… if people want to grind out a currency they should be allowed to.

There are all kinds of downsides to that. First off is the people that can’t / won’t dedicate their lives to the game will be left behind.

That means no getting into pugs for you etc. Also people that can grind their butts off will reach their goals superquick and quit / burn out. It’s just objectively bad from multiple angles.

Bar weapons and trinkets tho surely there’s no rush to cap other slot rather upgrade them when needed. Like if I’m upgrading tier surely your bettter off upgrading the four slots evenly for higher overall illvl

Two words: Azerite Grind.

The single biggest gripe of BfA from end-game players was Titanforging the open-ended power grind of Azerite. A lot of players do not want to be shackled to non-capped power gains of tryhards and no-lifers.

No, if you’re upgrading tier you’re better off upgrading one piece at a time fully. The later upgrades give more benefit.

You’re also better off upgrading the highest budget items first (helm, legs and chest) because they give more bang for your buck than shoulders and gloves.

My strategy is to hoard currency right now.

The goal is to fully upgrade one peice at a time. Which one? Depends a bit on tier set availability and what comes out from the vault.

If I manage to do a +10 this week (I doubt it) then that Myth track peice will get fully upgraded. If I cant, I will continue to hoard currency untill next wednesday.

Also. I would have to look at it. But if its the same as last season my weapon will be crafted. It costs less crests to craft a 2handed staff than to craft a 1hander + shield.

So usually I dont waste crests upgrading weapons untill next week when I can craft the 2hander. Then before I upgrade any weapon that drops in M+ I will first wait untill the rest of my gear is fully upgraded. So in like 2 months from now.

Let me know if that makes sense to you. There might be better ways of gearing up.

Definitely

Actually yes that makes sense tbh I didn’t really think it through when I posted earlier

If you are going for bis then you need the special shield from Gallywix so enjoy XD.

… Sad RShaman cries …

Its gonna be a while before I get that shield. I dont raid, so…

11.1.5 we are getting bullions so thats something.
