Crit main stat

Is crit going to remain the main stat for dps in War Within or is it just a thing for season 4 DF right now? Has anyone seen on the alpha of War Within if crit is again the main stat for dps or not?

Not sure how I feel about this crit being the main stat, it just doesn’t feel that great to be honest.

Crit isnt my main stat for my dps so no it isnt.

And that class is?
All the youtube guides right now for whatever dps I choose all say to prioritize crit then whatever else. I look on raider io at the high end m+ players and see so much crit on their gear.

Destro warlock. but i also have a mage that i play with all 3 specs and they dont use crit either. Nor do my MM hunter and Fury warrior.
Maybe the videos you are watching arent good. Try looking at Archon.GG or something similar that shows what people are actually using.

I just looked at some of the highest mythic+ players on raider io (destro loks, mm hunts and fury waris). The destro locks stack tons of crit and have crit gems and enchants, so do some of the hunts. But the fury waris mainly haste.

I usually copy my stats from the the top m+ players.

Not sure what you are looking at but the top Destro warlock on Raider IO is stacking Mastery > Haste yes he has crit gems and enchants but the chances are he is doing that because he is capped on the other stats.
Its not good to blindly stack stats if you dont really understand what you are stacking them for or where the DR is.

Here this lock all +19 destro lock,

neck haste/crit
wrist, waist and boots all prioritze crit.

Look at his profile on the armoury. He is pretty much capped on Haste and Mastery to the point that they dont really provide a lot of benefit. thats why he is now stacking crit.

But thats only from the set peices, and the 2 rings that everyone uses really.
But everything that wasn’t a set piece is crit/haste or crit/verse.

Neck piece 1051crit/1051 haste.
Cloak Crit/haste
Wrist Crit/verse
Belt Crit/vers
Boots Crit/verse

Anthing that wasn’t a set peice from catalyst is crit/something, besides trinket and weapon.

This is why but you can believe what you want i guess…

It depends on the spec and how it scales with stats. If the mastery is very good then it tends to be on top. DoT classes tend to scale with haste, especially if their DoTs can proc stuff. Fire and frost mages don’t depend that much on critical strike because they have increased crit chance and guaranteed crits.

If you wanna ask about your spec then you should make that clear.

Always sim per usual for best stat attributes.

People are hitting their soft caps.

Stop looking at individual pieces and start looking at overall stats. Even the warlock you linked isn’t “stacking crit”, they have crit as only their 3rd highest stats, over 2k rating below his 2nd highest.

Secondary stats aren’t infinitely beneficial. There are diminishing returns so at some point, you can have so much of your best stats that it’s no longer worth getting more, which increases the value of the stats you have less off.

Secondary stats have diminishing returns, meaning that past a certain point, any additional stat rating you get will give you a reduced amount. And with the level of gear we have now, it’s so easy to reach that point in your best stats that your “worst” stats gain a lot of value.

So, somewhat ironically, crit isn’t the best stat to stack for that many specs. What you’re seeing is the result of players having too much of their “good” stats, which causes to them to divert some of their gear, gems and enchants toward stats like crit in order to not reach too far into DR.
