Crit question

Is critical strike acrually a good stat? I just notice its quite prominant on a lot of tier sets items for multiple classes. But, players usually opt for haste or mastery… so is crit actually good and noticable?

Usually what we say is: sim your character. Some fast example tho, critical is great for WW and Brew but not good for shadow priest. A lot of people usually craft bis stats offer the worse tier piece usually to avoid situations like this.

Depends on class/spec tbh. I know it’s preferred for I.e sub rogue.

Yes Feral Druid’s stat priority is generally 1. Crit, 2. Mastery, 3. Haste, 4. Versatility but like others already said, it heavily depends on the class/spec. Different specs favor different stats.

Also, PvP players might favor different stats than PvE players. If I’m not mistaken, Versatility is a preferred stat for a lot of specs in PvP.

Depends on the spec / class. Many specs have interactions with crit beyond just double damage such as additional resources or mechanics triggering from their spells. Crit is also one of the few stats that affects the value of non class based procs such as annulet and on use trinket effects.

As many have alluded to, stats in WoW aren’t a simple priority and instead their values are relative based on what you already have. The more of one thing you have, the more relative value the other things will gain compared to it, this means that even if a spec heavily prioritises one or two stats it typically still wants at least some balance of all 4 in an optimal setup.

Which class and spec and for which content? Single target, multi-target, Raid, M+, PvP? Are you a tank or healer or DD? Give details and I will give you optimal stat %'s.

Nope, and it’s sad. I say it’s caused of the colonization of wokeism in Blizzard.

In example: it is frowned upon that warriors can destroy in just a few hits. So we make warriors as pallys.

Bring me back warriors with crit and arpen.

Most class guides will give you a basic stat prio but simming is the best way to know what your class will benefit from.

Not only spec / class.
Even gearlevel comes into play.

If as a feral druid you stack too much Crit/Mastery for example you’ll run into diminishing returns on those two stats up to the point where Haste/Versa becomes actually better than Crit/Mastery, even if Wowhead still says Crit/Mastery.
Then with the 2pc-setbonus you get a slight shift towards more Haste as well (as the buff triggers more often from more auto-attacks).

Simming? What do you mean by that?

Yes. I run every expansion Crit/Mastery as Paladin and Warrior.

I stacked crit on my warrior last season and it seemed good. Never tried it on paladin though. Usually go mastery/haste.

Yeah, you can also just run Crit/Mastery with “Crusade” as Retribution for the Haste boost every 2 Mins.

It’s not just prefered stat. It’s the main stat in PvP, it’s basically new resilience, every spec in PvP needs to stack versa, as much as possible. It’s basically the 2nd most important stat after your int/agility/strenght.

Regarding PvP, crit is usually either your second worst, if not your worst stat. I think this goes for pretty much any spec, including healers. I could be wrong about the second part but I’m yet to see a spec that beenfits from crit in PvP.

Simulating your character.
Take a look at raidbots. com

I have the simulation c addon, so I can just /simc and copy and paste that info straight into https://www.raidbots.com/simbot

You can compare gear, sim enchants, etc etc.
