I did this the last couple expansions when i get max lvl. This is mostly a nice Expansion.
The Good:
I liked the lvlng and the story so far. The art is great like allways. Dragonriding is usefull in the beginning and realy fun when you max out that skill tree. The Musik complements the zones and sometimes invites me to to just sit there do nothing and listen.
The raid to the Dragon isles went well for me, however some people got stuck in loading screens and all of us had some lag in the first couple hours, but all of us could play without much frustration. So respect to the network team.
The Bad:
This is not a new and innovative expansion. Why do i write that?
When i arrived at the Azure span and heared the first zone-song, it hit me. The song sounded strangely familiar. It sounded much like a song from the howling fjord from the WotLK expansion. The trees and many assets seemed like they where taken from WotLK.
And then everything looked and felt like a remix. Nothing felt new and exciting anymore.
The mana crystals - same as in Legion, the azure vault dungeon, is just a remix of the nexus from WotLK. Same concempt - run in circles go up and down.
The cobalt catastrphe world quest is a remix of torghast (torghast was the reason i took a 2 year break from wow). But where in torghast you have a instanced zone for yourself, now i have to deal with groups runnig around taging mobs, making them grey (not lootable, not counting for the quests progressions). This made me write this “review”.
Crafting:
At first glimpse the crafting seems innovative. But i think its actualy not.
Its overly complicated but in essence you just made 5 or more versions of the same item with slightly different stats and hid everything behind bars i have to fill to decive me, thinking there is some kind of progression.
Just leting me make those 5 items with slightly different material costs would do the same thing, without bars, without locking stuff behind “specializations”. The crafting trainers just stop teaching you recipes and i have to unlock them myself by filling those bars.
to be honest, i dont like that. i would rather just craft items get skillpoints, then learn new recipes untill im maxed out and be done with it. Like it was in all expansions untill shadowland.
There was an interesting video on youtube about gaming innovators and honers.
This expansion feels like you fired all the innovators and the honers took over.
Its the same thing but a little bit morphed so it seems new… but it is not.
Dragonflight is just a remix. And that is kind of sad.
