As most are aware I hate the concept but the terminology in responses seems to be changing. It’s sounding more like a not now rather than a ‘we don’t want to do this’.
HYYYYYYYYPE!!!
This will be awesome if they can implement it well.
no thanks. unsub/delete wow if this
I wouldnt mind this option somewhere down the line, but i’m also fine without it.
I’d like it if cross faction was an option. I’m on a low-pop Alliance-dominated realm and my guild had to stop raiding at several points in BfA due to a lack of numbers, so increasing our recruitment pool would be great for me personally. I’d also like to be able to play more Alliance as I love the Alliance races and cites, but my husband and guild are Horde so that’s where I play.
I did read the interview as more of a “we’re aware of the problem and not doing anything about it” (e.g. nothing to say but not dismissing concerns) rather than as “cross faction will happen at some point in the future”, so my optimism on something happening here is somewhat tempered.
Hello Alliance Blood Elves (lick the tears of Erevien from his cheek)
Alliance Vulpera and Tauren

It’s definitely one of those reading between the lines things. They aren’t actually promising any thing.
They are only two outcomes to the faction imbalance:
Either Blizz makes Alliance ultra attractive to top end raiders with racial so broken it even beats the appeal of the larger community on Horde. They tried it with allied races which overall have better racials on Alliance than Horde but got cold feet because of the Horde’s backlash as seen with the Mechagnome which actually brought top guilds to say they will switch before it’s nerf. They could have done it until the balance is better then nerf them, I think this was the original plan but Horde backlash killed it.
Other outcomes is cross-faction play, there is no other way. Every mmo with a faction system got there eventually, WoW hold out for longer because of it’s larger player pool, and with the only alternative smashed by QQing I am now convinced we will get there either during SL life cycle or next expansion depending on how fast the situation deteriorate.
I’m glad that they are at the very least discussing the possibility. Keep your playerbase separated by faction feels outdated (gameplay-wise). There are plenty of games that manage to keep factions as a lore thing but players can still do PVE-content together. ESO and FFXIV to name a few.
Keep PvP as is and make PvE cross-faction.
Yeah, I just think that a lot of people are going to get their hopes up unnecessarily. Or, as these things tend to go in Chinese-whispers style, various sites and people will report this as “Blizzard promises cross-faction play” and get disappointed when that doesn’t happen. Blizzard may instead decide to address the imbalance, by giving free faction transfers to Alliance or something like that, rather than opening the doors for cross faction.
I’ve always hated when the factions put aside their differences to fight together and I was genuinely excited for the promise of a renewed faction conflict in BFA.
… but they botched it. Now it feels like the peace between the Alliance and Horde is stronger than ever. The Horde doesn’t want a warchief and seem intent on peace. Considering the world narrative, at this point I wouldn’t mind being able to play cross faction. The factions are a barrier that doesn’t really bring anything anymore.
weird way to say horde crying on forums 24/7 en masse
I am being polite
If the problem becomes worse they will eventually implement it.
Only if its an option i don’t want to play with traitors and other horde folks.
I’m probably fine with grouping for dungeons/raids.
But anything beyond that is a big no from me tbh.
I like the faction divide and us vs them theme in WoW, the red vs blue, the horde vs alliance and I don’t want that taken away from me.
Perhaps, an opt in mercenary mode would be a better solution.
Just like you can choose which languages you want in your groups ( English, French, Russian etc ) from the tickbox in the LFG tool, there could be an option to include mercenaries from the other faction or to sign up as a mercenary yourself.
While thats completly true, faction war is an integral part, but it would be cool to have a little quest line to go on full traitor mode and switch alliagnce to the other side (even if you don’t start in the opposite team) at least…
I think switching allegiance would be pretty cool yes, I’m all in for player choice, and switching sides and choosing them is a pretty cool RPG element that I think WoW is missing a lot.
I’d like to see that one human raised by orcs, or valeera becoming full on Alliance, etc etc.
I am also deleting wow if that happens
