So about cross faction how is it gonna be in world pvp? if i want to party up with a friend horde and kill other horde/alliance players?
It will only work in instanced content. In the open world, even if you’re in party, if you’re both WM on, you’re hostile and can murder each other to your heart’s content.
Cannot wait until we go full cross game and being able to kill some Overwatch players…
like, with what is happening i dont doubt it!
so we have cross faction for pve but not for pvp? why?
War Mode should honestly just be one big free for all outside of party. All four Shadowlands PvP World Quests are free for all, so we already have that system in place.
As for the open world outside of War Mode, cross-faction should absolutely be enabled and the faction tag removed.
We have cross-faction for rated pvp.
so what if i make friends with a horde in arena and want to play with him in outside world killing others?
isnt this called bad design?
it seems blizzard activision microsoft is doing this just to “bring new players” instead of “to the player”.
You will not be able to do that.
No. They explicitly said that cross-faction play is NOT going to be introduced in lore. It’s purely a game mechanic for higher-end content. Open world content isn’t the target of the feature.
then why ion said there will be no more lore with war between the 2 factions?
like we now are forever friends…and if we are forever friends why i cant walk in street with you killing others?
He didn’t say that. He said there will be less focus on the faction war going forward, which makes sense, considering we have a truce since the end of BfA. Truce does not mean we’re BFFs.
he said this :
“During an interview, World of Warcraft Game Director Ion Hazzikostas states there will never be another expansion with a focus on the Faction War.”
its everywhere in internet.
Yes. That doesn’t mean there will not be more lore with war between us. It just won’t be the focus.
The faction war wasn’t the focus of Shadowlands, either. Nor Legion’s. Nor WotLK’s. Nor TBCs. It was the focus of BfA.
and cataclysm too i think right?
anyway…is a bit bad make friends with someone and cant be able to play with him / her / them …
I agree. It would be nice if faction restrictions were lifted further, and by all accounts, it looks like the changes are not going to stop with what’s coming in 9.2.5. It’s just the first step, and we’ll have to wait and see what comes next.
Stop treating clickbait titles like they’re actual quotes. He said it’s unlikely to have an expansion focus on faction war like BFA did. I think he knows better than that to say “never”.
also in instance you can understand what a horde say in chat but not in open world? isnt that bad design?
being cut off from communication with a friend just because im in open world?
You can understand each other in /p no matter what. You can understand each other in /s, /y and /e while in an instance, but not while in the open world, unless you pop a language potion (forgot the name of it, sorry).
Since this is a feature that is not part of lore, but a technicality to make higher-end content more accessible, no, it’s not bad design. If this was a lore-supported feature, it would be, but (at the moment, at least), it isn’t.
Not being able to understand each other is - likewise - a technicality, since we should have been able to understand each other from day one, if we go by lore. So if we go there, then WoW has had a bad design from day one.
Treat this as what it is: a feature that helps. Not a perfect thing by any means, but something that is a step forward, but is just that, a step, rather than the end.
Mass grip with Grav could be a killer combo.
Microsoft is not as thing to june 2023 so no idea why you bring them into it and all the info you need on cross faction is on wowhead.
There are two goals that Blizzard wanted to focus on: organized instanced gameplay, and making this an opt-in feature. These two guidelines will be implementing other systems and will still have restrictions. When it comes to specific older legacy instances, some will not support cross-faction parties, and “outdoors”, cross-faction players will still remain unfriendly or even hostile if the player has War Mode enabled. Players will be able to choose if they would like to bridge the faction divide within their own gameplay, however, with the implementation of cross-faction gameplay In World of Warcraft, players who choose to opt-in may have more options when it comes to party finder. Organized instances are where things get more technical.
Opting into cross-faction organized instanced gameplay will only apply to Mythic dungeons, raids, and rated PvP. Players will be able to directly invite members of the opposite faction to a party if they are BattleTag or Real ID friends, or members of a cross-faction WoW community. Players may also decide to limit pre-made group and group finder listings to one faction if they are listing for the content where it is available. Random match-made activities such as Heroic dungeons, skirmishes, and random battlegrounds will remain the same. Higher-level WoW content such as Mythic+ keys, group raiding, and participating in high PvP rating battles will be able to happen for both single-faction and cross-faction groups, so it just comes down to the player’s personal preference with whom they would like to party up with.
Won’t Blizzard just force a 50% winrate for them?
