Been playing an alt in a small RP server, quite like the people and the activities, but it is really a struggle to get a level 4 legendary base item from the AH, they are listed way too high. Maybe the crafters are just too greedy or they really need the higher profit margin to cover their expenses as the demand is less than normal servers. What if we have a shared AH, like people can buy and sell their items in the AH as long as they are in the EU server, or in the English speaking servers? Cross realm AH does not mean cross-realm players, all player in the EU server are using the same AH for time tokens, what I am suggesting is to apply the game-token AH to all tradable goods.
I recall that once the game developer Ion talked about this and he mentioned that the technicical preparation for cross-realm AH was almost ready, but they were not ready to deploy it. If the cross-realm AH goes online, it may be a nightmare for AH goblins, but would be very beneficial to the general public.
Any ideas? Or are there any unsolvable technical difficulties for this gigantic cross-realm AH?
With the old AH definitely. It may be possible with the new 8.3 AH tho
As for whether itâs a good idea⌠I fear that thereâll be far more offer than demand and thus kill some markets that currently exist in our local AH (mostly because only a few ppl bother posting these items which makes it profitable for them).
On top of that a global AH means that the current AH goblins will have a much greater influence on the markets and thatâs not something Iâd like to see as a small goldmaker. The competition will just skyrocket and I feat itâll just make things harder for player like me.
It would definitely help smaller realms, but at what cost ?
It would definitly be a challegne for AH goblins, but all players may benefit from this more stable market. Like Ores and herbs may have less fluctuatlin. It may also bring lower prices for flasks etc.
I can see how goblins may incluence on the global market, but that is happening no matter the AH is connected or not?
Some servers are connected to my current server, thus the general prices are fair and affordable. What I am suggesting is just to connect AHs but not the entire server. That may great help smaller servers while not dramatically change their game play.
A teensy bit of math would instantly reveal that most realms actually sell every rank of every item at a loss, thoughâŚ
I made the mistake of leveling tailoring and the vendor materials alone (unfarmable, just need to be bought from a vendor at a high price) cost more than I can ever make from sales.
To keep the numbers simple: Letâs say I spend 2000 gold crafting a legendary item - not including costs of leveling the craft, mind you. That item only sells for 900 gold on the AH. And yet people complain that this 900 gold is âextortionâ.
That is the basic philosophy of the situation Legendary crafting is currently at, on most realms. Everything has an astronomical leveling cost, followed by an ever increasing crafting cost (higher rank=more materials needed). And yet each rank sells for a smaller and smaller profit. If it even sells at all, since they are a one-time buy - not a consumable. Everyone only needs one or two.
Believe it or not, the people asking for like 50k for a rank 3 leather shoulders are actually severly underselling, it cost them upwards of 200k to make that piece. Plus several hours of time they can never get back.
Try it yourself. Youâll see. Almost every crafter makes a net loss and eventually canât be bothered to do it anymore.
Depends, the AH is such a small environment that itâs subject to a lot of manipulations.
It could mean cheaper items just like it could mean arbitrarily increased prices for niche markets because someone is maintaining an unreasonable price by controlling the market.
I dunno how hard it would be in a crossrealm AH but thatâs already a thing in a lot of realms, mine included. (Not on all items and not at all times thankfully)
Overall things should be cheaper, but thereâs still that possibility.
These goblins are already influencing their own realms, but Iâm just afraid that it would further expand their reach to absolutely every realm. It should be better for buyers and definitely better for rich sellers but I fear that itâll be much more difficult for small goldmakers to profit from it.
Overall thatâs not an apocalyptic issue, as usual some will benefit and others wonât Iâm just disappointed that the big fishes would most likely benefit from it while I wouldnât.
And thatâs assuming the big goblins donât have the means to control a global AH the same way they currently do. To reset the value of an item on a realm is one thing, but for the whole region that requires some serious capital and should be extremely risky.
i assume those who are rich now would just get richer and the average joe suffers because prices are so cheap that its not worth the effort to farm or craft anything. it probably would be nice for those casual people who never sell anything and just want to buy cheap consumables which can be afforded by completing callings etc.
Would turn out to be a way to transfer gold between realms. No gold on a character? Put up a rusty nail for 100000g and then buy it on your character on a different realm. XD
Recall when shared AH between horde and alliance was first introduced, there were discussions on whether it is fair on imbalance servers, which would ruin the goblins on the âweaker sideâ. There were also discussions on whether BoEs should be faction bound to prevent Pay2Win incentives. After the AH was shared between horde and alliance, the BoEs were faction-bounded for quite a while (during BFA), but now it is no longer bounded by factions, which I take as a indication of open competition between horde and alliance players in the same server does more good than evil.
When connected server was first introduced, there were some trepidation on whether AH would be the play ground for âbigâ goblins. From what I observe, after the servers were âconnectedâ, there were definitly more competition and it was much more difficult to snipe cheap BMAH pets, but in general, the current AH is still quite viable and casual goblins like myself can still make profits. What I am thinking here are the benefits and draw-backs on connecting more AHs, especially small (RP) server AHs, but not fully connect those servers, like the horde-alliance seperation.
Well, legendary crafts are a subject on its own. I donât think that this should be used as an argument for or against Cross-Realm AH.
I mean, you have to craft 15(?) of each rank and each slot to be able to make the next one. In the meanwhile players only need 1, if lucky 2, of a rank for a certain slot. ButâŚthey can even skip rank 2 and 3 and go straight to 4.
The supply obviously goes up fast while the demand shrinks rapidly after the initial weeks. Then you naturally get into a position where the raw mats are worth more than the crafted goods.
